Its just that popular. Some dates were sold out for some resorts in minutes/hours. I remember in years past, being able to call weeks in and still get a decent room, or be able to change things. Not any more. The craziness has got bad, everyone called right at 7:00 and sat on hold for hours until they got through, so everything good was gone in hours. I think the mods are the first to go because they blocked POR/POFQ so that only left 2. Keep trying, there's talk more rooms may open.

Call back and ask if you have a pin attached to you or your spouses name. The pin includes more moderates and they released it last week. They are given out at random, but thats at least worth checking out.

Are you flexible on your dates? If one night is unavailable in your date range, the entire dates will show as unavailable.

I have actually been wondering if FD is that popular this year, or if they did a very limited release of rooms for the promotion, or even a combination of both. With all of the rooms Disney has, it is hard to believe that they literally sold out in minutes, unless they had a limited number in the promotion to begin with.

I think it's a combo of people jumping in on the first day and the rooms being super limited in all months other than September.

It's no secret they're trying to ween down the discounts and having limited rooms allows for outward appearance of offering specials while internally not having to apply much.

That makes a lot of sense. Promotions have a big psychological factor attached to them (think JC Penney in the last few years), and after offering major promotions Disney would hurt if they just took them away. Does anyone remember prior to 9/11 what kind of discounts did Disney offer?

I agree..I think they're puling off the band-aid very slowly . They don't want to just come out and say NO FD because people would storm the castle! First step is not including POR and limiting the dates. What will be the next step?? It'll be interesting what happens next year.

Before 911 we stayed at Disney using the old Kingdom Club Program, AP resort rates, and rented DVC. Back then you did not have day to day pricing so your room rate was based on your check in date. Deluxe resorts were in value season in July. We paid $179 for CR and $120 for savanna view AKL a couple summers in a row. Values during fall break were as low as $66. Staying on property was comparable to hotels in our town at any given time. Of course back then food was no where near as expensive as it is now.

I think FDing is attracting alot of people that wouldnt otherwise go. We were gonna go anyway but with FDing we added 2 days and upgraded our plan... Well played Disney well played

They got me hook, line, and sinker. We were booked for six nights at Bonnet Creek. The pin got me to eight nights at POR with free dining. And Disney gets all the money.

They got us too, we were going to stay off site this time, yea right lol. I know how much we love to eat, so now we are staying on site, adding 3 days, and upgrading to deluxe dining. I agree well played Disney.

Now if that free dining wasnt offered, I would be staying offsite, for 3 days less.

I honestly believe the website is not 100% right. I looked up almost all of the resorts for rooms and packages for the week of Nov 9th for my parents and NOTHING was available with and without free dining. She went to her TA the next day and EASILY booked a package with free dining at Beach Club. No problems at all. So it was not available online but it was really available from her TA.

I can't seem to get a quote on any room other than club level. I think maybe the website is acting up.

We chose the correct year for a Christmas vacation, we booked the first day of Disney Visa availability and all the resorts are still available for our stay with free dining!

I see a lot of availability coming in on Sunday of the third week in Nov. Just adjust your dates, maybe stay off site for a night!

Well the website is only updated 2x per day (CM told me) and CM's have access to whats readily available

There's a lot of demand for FD promotion and every year the date possibilities get less. Couple that with the availability of information online and we end up with these situations where there's craziness when these offers go live. Kind of like Black Friday, in my opinion. There are sites that leak the info in advance and people go all kinds of crazy on BF.

Not that I'm complaining...I love the information too, but it comes @ a price.

I think it just depends on what week you are going, check-in date, and length of stay. I definitely think they are weening down, or making it a little trickier for people to get this discount. It has worked in our favor as we are going the second week of Sept., just three weeks into the school year here. I think more people are waiting until November and I'm wondering if that month will be as busy as October was last year? Disney definitely has gotten way more of our money than I first intended; we've upgraded to deluxe and added and extra night and park day to our ressies than originally planned!lol
