Wow, My National rate for Nov/Dec jump up $77!!

I booked my Nov 25 - Dec 2 rental ASAP, right before I booked my airfare (I had a good idea already of the flight times).

Well, I got a grand total rate of $170 (Emerald Aisle-Intermediate) with the #6600330 contract number and a $20 coupon.

When I checked it today, it jumped to $247 total with discounts!!!

This is just a really good example of booking things as early as possible. Especially if it's a holiday week or weekend. I'm going Thanksgiving weekend.

Just thought I'd share some rate info with you all in case it can help someone else.

This is a good example of why you need to constantly monitor National.com.

I grabbed a rate that was fair, and then a better one came out and grabbed that one. A few days later, it went back up. I would guess my rate will come down as June gets closer, but you never know for sure.

Yep, you should check your rate at the very least once a week up until your trip as the price can and does change from time to time. But sometimes, it goes down only once and if you miss it your tough out of luck. Last year, my rate never came down again for 7 months.

So book as early as possible and check the rates frequently.

It definitely doesn't hurt to book early. The great thing about car rental agencies is that you can cancel if you find something better, without being charged any fees.
