WOW! Kids programs ~*~ List of interested children on page 1 ~*~

The programs sound great...maybe we could arrange for them to take place on the 27th - the day before the actual convention begins? (Just a suggestion - you don't want the classes to conflict with the other convention activities...you'd have to ask who is arriving when, though...)

I have 2 DSs - will be 9 & 8 (5th & 3rd grades) - we have APs, so we'd just be paying the add-on fees.

Thanks for looking into this - please keep us posted!

For me, it isn't about the cost of passes at all. It is about the quality of the programs and the ability to get our kids into them. Many of the other activities that have been suggested - cookie decorating, or crafts, or treasure hunts, that sort of thing - are fine for little kids, but would not be nearly enough to keep our school-age kids going for half a day or more while we are shmoozing. I really see this as an opportunity to see the DIS Youth (Orphans of the DIS? Children of DIStracted Parents?) into a really fine set of activities that have educational and social value, and are developmentally appropriate for their age group. So, if there is some way we can figure out to make this happen, we should. I nknwo that parents of younger kids won't see the value of this, but those of us who have school-age kids know that the kids want to hang out with each other and do fun stuff independent of the parents, and this is the very best supervised program for that at WDW.

Cookie - we will be waiting on the convention schedule before we make any real plans. Just getting a list together to see the interest level at this point. There may not be enough arriving early to do anything before the convention. The minimum is 10 and I know I will be trying to get my children there maybe even Wednesday night since they will be missing school to attend.

I think there are some great programs offered. I would hate for our sons and daughters to miss this wonderful opportunity not available during a normal WDW trip.

Count me in for my 16yo and two 13yo's. Don't know which class they'd be most interested in. Would my 16yo be the only one her age going. Any other parents of teens let me know.

My DD (she will be 7) might be interested. We would only need to add on the cost of the class as we already have UMPs with our 7 day land/sea package.

TiggerooCheck the list in the first post. My son will be 15 and there is a 17 year old. Check the link for a list of classes. There are so many great ones I think we can work out something to please just about everyone.

On another noteI'm very enthusiastic about these programs and I'm willing to volunteer as one of the chaperones. I don't mind missing time at the parks if it means my son can enjoy this experience.

Thanks Carolyn for the chaperone offer. We will need at least one per class but will need to base that on ages of the kids. The miniumum is 1-15 and the max is 1-5.

I'm not at home this week but I will keep checking when I get a few minutes. Everyone will be added to the list as soon as I can.

The list is growing, we may be able to arrange different classes for K-2, 2-6 and teens. :D

My DS will be 5 and might be interested depending on the class and if there were other boys his age in it.

Just had to bump this up so as no one will forget about this. BTW, Linda, have you read the last few posts on this? According to what is being read, we could enroll our kids in one of these programs as long as we have at least ten. I am right? Gerri

In the middle of the night it occurred to me:

Would we be able to get the 5-day pass ahead of time... or would we have to attend the class first?

I like to have everything in hand ahead of time. Just my way.

I'm also waiting to see if Linda is really OK with this.

I haven't gotten final information on timing yet, from the brochure I think they could be picked up early. The tenative plan would be to pick up the package and be able to have it for everyone Wednesday.

I'll keep up the list of everyone interested and once we get the schedule and final okays we'll go ahead. Thank you to everyone for your patience.

For keeping this up and going. I had wondered the same thing as well since my bunch will be arriving Tues afternoon. (I thought it would be a good time to visit Disney Quest, but then I read an article in the Southern Living magazine that told about going over to Boardwalk and renting surrey bikes buiklt for four. (anyone else ever did this?) That might be fun and then be ready to hit one of the parks early Wed. morning. (If we can have the passes ahead of time.) When I was working on the Disney's Magic Music Days, it was the same simular thing, and we would have had to send $$$ in ahead of time, and I believe that they were sent out ahead of time. BUT with all of us, we'd need to send you all our $$$ and then Disney would send the passes to you. If that is how it ends up working out, then when everyone sends you his/her $$, they need to send a return selfaddressed stamped envelope. I may be jumping ahead here, but I'm so excited about this! Thanks Janette for all your consistancy in keeping this thing going, I know my kids are going to love it!! Gerri

Hey Jeanette, any new developments on this since the itenery for the DIS Con is out? Thanks for your help. Gerri

I have an almost 7 yo boy who would love any program he would be old enough for. Our last trip he did the pirate cruise and loved it. He also loved the kids program on the cruise. We have AP's so ehatever would work out. That would also free me up to spend a little quality time with his 20 yo sister.

I'm moving and have a vacation planned in the next month so I won't be able to work on these plans for a little while. It looks like we'll have plenty of time in the schedule so I'll get some new documentation and verify that our group can do the programs. It will be a great opportunity for the kids to get a glimpse of something else Disney has to offer.
