WOW - I just sold my old gold........

I FINALLY sent my stuff in yesterday. my package weighed over a pound, but most is silver, I'm afraid. But I am hoping for $200. Any more would be great, and I'll take anything over 100. I was shocked to see it's deleivered already. I didn;t drop it off till after 3 yesterday at a local drop off, (which I never knew existed till I googled. LOL) It was delovered about an hour ago. So how long from the delivery time to till the time they call on average? We are going to the movies around 5, so I hope they call before then or else it's prabably not gonna be till next week to find out.

$214.41 is what I got. I was figuring it was close to $200 and I was right. I was wishing more, but I have to be happy with that.
I was a little annoyed with my guy though. It was Steven. He didnt call till 5:50, and of course they close at 6 for the weekend. I was in a movie and I happened to hear my phone beep a message (I thought i had all sound off, but it was no big deal as there was only one other family in the whole theatre. )So I listened to the message and it was really poor sounding, and I knew it wasn't my phone. I had to listen to it a few times to catch what he said and get the number. He talked really fast and t he message was going in and out. So I stepped outside the door and called him. I got a lady who put me through to him. I could hear her plain as day, but when I was switched to him, again he was going in and out and I had to have him repeat stuff over and over. He seemed kind of rude almost. Not really rude, but just not super freindly. He told me several things weren't precious, which I knew some of the earings were iffy. And then I asked how to get them back and he almost acted like that was a pain and he wanted to hurry the call up, whch I'm sure he did as it was 6 PM. Oh well, I have a little etra money now. Nothing great, but I can actually pay down my credit card faster now, which is my goal to get it paid off as soon as possible.
I don;t think it was too bad for mostly sending in silver though.

I sent my stuff in yesterday so today I am stalking the package with FedEx tracking. I can't wait to find oout what my stuff is worth. I sent in a couple of rings, a couple of broken 14K bracelets and my Dh pledge pin from college.

I just mailed my packet through USPS. Did I do something wrong? It was a white envelope that in the cornor said " no postage needed". I hope I didn't make a big boo boo...

It does say don't use envelopes. And why not through Fed Ex? You would've had to pay some postage, unless you bought a flat rate Priority mail envelope.

This guy Steven called me with my quote a couple of days ago. I was not happy with the quote and asked for my stuff to be sent back and he was pretty rude. Most of my items had gemstones in them and I know I could get more on ebay for them, I just figured I would give them a try.
I had sent in a package a few months ago that was all gold and got a good quote. I don't think they give much for gemstone jewlery.

Went to USGoldbuyers today.
Had some broken bracelets, two rings, broken anklets, thin chains, all in 14K, got 1108. for stuff I have not worn in 10+ years! WOoHoo....I had tried a local place and compared it, this was a MUCH better deal. By the way, I mentioned that I was on the boards here and they said they get quite a bit from the DIS.
Good Luck to All! BY the way if anyone is interested....you go in a room (the size of a closet) and they are behind a thick clear wall, they test each piece for type of metal, then weigh it all and show you the complete breakdown. They were professional and polite. I think I might dig thru some more stuff, :rotfl:

Well, I got $199 for my stuff and I found out that my Dh's pledge pin that he has held onto because it was gold isn't gold after all!

Hi all. We just sent in some rings, earings and small odds and ends pieces and will let you know tom. what we get offered.

I have a bunch of silver I am sending as well in the reg post mail. :worship:

you guys are sending at a good time, since gold is over $1000..I think $1045 the other day. I had already sent what I was willing to part with, these numbers tell meit was wise to hang on to some of it, It may be more valuable to keep, one never knows.

Excellent point, FinFan. All the companies that are begging to buy your gold are doing so for a reason. There's a huge billboard that I pass by when we go the the beach that says: "This is a great time to sell your gold!" I always think, if you really think so why are trying so desperately hard to buy it?

But as you said, one never knows.

well, the glod value is bittersweet, as the dollar keeps getting weaker and weaker...other countries are looking for it to disappear altogether. If folks have decent gold or silver coins, hang on to those for sure.

Well I finally bit the bullet and I'm sending some gold and silver to USGB. They pick up my package today. I'm not even sure what to expect, I'll be happy with a couple hundred. Even though I doubt it will be that much. Here is what I'm sending.

Silver
1 Ring
2 Necklaces
2 Charm Bracelets (1 with a lot of charms & 1 with only 2)
1 Bangle Bracelet
1 Herringbone Bracelet
1 Slide Pendants

Gold
Watch (I'm not sure the karat)
6 Rings (some with semi precious stones & one class ring)
4 Charms
5 Pairs of Hoop Earrings
5 Mix & Match Earrings (some with semi precious stones)
3 Necklaces w/ charms (thin necklaces & some semi precious stones)
5 Necklaces

Does any one have any ideas what I should have in my head to except with what I have listed? There are 2 of the gold pieces I'm not sure if they are plated or real gold. One is a box chain necklace and the other is a rope necklace. I can't find any markings on the claps about the karat. The rope I know was purchased at one of those kiosks in the mall. I usually don't wear plated stuff because it will turn my skin green. It has to be real gold. So I'm hoping it is real.

My DD & SIL found a few old pieces over the weekend - a man's bracelet, couple of very old thin rings that must have been his Dad's - not good quality. An old and very ugly Mother's Ring from who knows where or when, a light bracelet and five 14k charms.

3 thin rings
2 bracelets
5 charms

Decided to take them to a local place that mostly deals with coins - USGB was fine and I had a good offer for my items ($1458.47), but it was pain waiting for FedEx all day.

He tested each piece and all were 14k except 2 rings which were 10k.

I was shocked when he did his calculations and said $581.00!! Told him I wish I'd brought my jewelry to him as I'd prefer to support local businesses and mine were mostly good weight 18k. He said he pays higher than most, especially locally and had never heard of USGB.

So, you might want to try a reputable local business before mailing your items. These mail companies must cover the free shipping and insurance somehow and it's in less money to us, the sellers.

Good luck to everyone!

Ok, still no phone call. I tracked my package and it made it. They said " check is in the mail" They wouldn't tell me what the amount was. Waiting

I would call back and ask for Samantha - she was very helpful to me when I had problems getting the email and finally sent it from her private email address. She also checked on when I would receive a call. She was a tad stand-offish at first, but when I apologized for interrupting her work she became helpful and kind.

Defintely try to speak with someone there and get an answer. Did they tell you to send the way you did?

Sure hope you get this cleared up soon.

How long does it take to get your stuff back. It's been over a week since I sent the request via email.

Not sure if this is a good deal or not. Friend of mine had a gold party today and I had the following to sale:

14kt

Thin necklace (couldn't wear if I wanted to as it is all crinkled)
Coin Ring (from Middle School Days)
Philadelphia Flyers Charm (from a charm bracelet)
Small Wedding Band with 7 teeny tiny diamonds (really tiny ring)
Gold Wedding Band

10kt

2 Pink Ice Rigs
2 Class Rings (mine & my husbands)
1 Black Onyx Ring
1 Men's Gold Nugget Ring
1 Small Gold Nugget Ring (wore on my pinky finger)

I was offered $380.00 for all of it (it only weighed 1.9 oz on a postage scale and of course that included all of the stones). I told them I would think about it - there's another party on the 14th if I decide to take the offer.

What do you all think? Good Deal or Not?

Thanks!

I think you would get more sending it in. You can always NOT take what they offer and have them send it back.
