I am being sent a check for $317 for some gold and silver! Woo hoo. Just in time, to, to pay for the termites...

Didn't have all that much, either. DEFINITELY sent in my engagement ring and wedding band, lol, since my husband divorced me three years ago and left his family for another woman. Was GLAD to get rid of that.

Had 8.7 PW of 10K and 13.3 of 14K and 70 of silver.

I just dug out my old wedding band ( and his!) will be selling those bad boys!!!!

Do you have to take all of the stones out or will they return them to you? I am getting ready to do this but there are a few stones I would like to keep if they don't pay for them.

USGB does not take them out and return to you, just called and asked this question.

I used needlenose pliers, you can take them to a jeweler and have them removed, but you have to pay for that.

Wow, I didn't realize they pay for silver as well, I have a bit of that, maybe more than the gold. I will be calling, since I just found out I have termites and have no idea how much that is gonna set me back yet.

I was doing SO good with my baby emergency fund and Disney savings! Grr.

I sent my stuff Fed EX on the 6th, got a settlement offer on the 8th. I chose to get a check via USPS, and $317 check got here yesterday (the 10th)!

Wow, that was fast. Now I am trying to talk my mom and sis into getting rid of their old stuff, esp. my sis, who has some from old boyfriends.

Just came back from Kinkos where I sent USGB some of my old junk. Most, if not all were broken pieces that I'll never use again. I had one bracelet of substantial weight that was broken and so out of style. What ever I get will be good as it was stuff that was useless anyway.

-I have a lot of silver...over 6 oz. Does USGB or GF take silver?
-When you call, do they give you a quote via phone if you know the weight & type (10k or 14k)?
-If so, are many of you calling both USGB AND GF or are you just choosing one? If you're just choosing, how are you choosing?
-GF gives you an additional 10% more money if you say you're a Dis member right?
-Lastly, do the payment checks come via USPS or are they certified in anyway? Has anyone had any issues w/payment?

Thanks in advance! Sorry so many questions! I know I'll be happy w/whatever I'm getting, but would really like to stretch my dollar if at all possible!

My husband was skeptical about this - but today, once again, (LOL) i get to say "i told you so"

he works in Manhattan and i talked him into going to USGB as a walk in -
he walked out with $1500.00 in cash i think i had about 3-4 oz - i asked him if he asked the guy how much we actually had but he said he justed wanted to grab the money and go

Yes, they both take silver, silver is worth much less than gold though, so the payout will be lower than some of the ones you see people posting.

I don't know about GF, but USGB will give you an estimate based on assumptions that all are real gold, silver etc.

I did not call both only b/c on each of their websites they tell you how much they pay per pennyweight and GF is much less than USGB. Right now USGB is paying around $24 per pennyweight for 14kt and GF is offering around $17-

Haven't seen anyone have any issues with either GF or USBG thus far.

Quite a difference between GF and USGB, I have looked into GF website, but not USGB. I am glad that you posted that informaiton, thank you! what caught my interest was GF paying 10% above cost to Dis members.
