WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Gold Fellows. If I remember correctly, USGB also dings you a little on small amounts. Anyone remember that from back several pages?

Ok, I'm confused - what do you mean by 'dings'? And do both goldfellow and usgb do it?

I haven't heard that Goldfellows does but I remember a post a while back that USGB does give you a small percentage less if you send a small amount. Anyone else remember this or am I having a blonde moment?

Goldfellows is the one who adds 10% if you write down that you are a Disboard member. It meant an extra $65 to me.

Thank you so much for this thread!!!!

Got the call earlier this afternoon and will be getting a check in the mail. I sent in about 9 oz worth of gold- broken bracelets, mismatched earrings, gaudy stuff that I inherited from my mother that will never be work. Was offered $4,130

Now, to put the money to good use. Of course, I see a Disney trip in our future.

WOW! That's a lot of gold! Congrats!

Wow, I just saw this thread. I am going to have to dig through my jewelry and see what I can find!

Me too...I'm already thinking about what's in the bottom of my jewelry box..I bet I can find tons of stuff..

I am trying to avoid looking through all these pages of posts so I was wondering if anyone can tell me what you do to get the gold you have to usgb? Do you request an envelope from them, how long does the process take? I have some gold (not a lot but a few pieces) and would like to use the money from it to help pay for my dh and mine 20th anniversary trip we want to take this year. TIA.;)

Just go to www.usgoldbuyers.com and the directions are there.

They were really nice to deal with for us.

Thank you for the quick response! I'm excited about doing this because I want to surprise my husband with the trip once I have everything in place.

Just received my settlement from GF....$124.94! :cool1: Really all I sent in were a few pieces, so for those of you that don't think you have enough, give it a try! I was honestly thinking it would be like, $25. I had a little 10K, a little 14K and a little silver. I am thrilled! Thanks so much OP! :goodvibes

This may seem like a silly question, but does teh gold have to be in "good condition" I have a pair of earrings that I kind of mangled to get the stone out, and I was hoping that they would still take it?

Also, how do they know if it is real or not, do they test it or do they only look for markings? Any one know?

Last week I got my offer on a Wed and recevd the check on Sat, someone else got an offer teh same day and recvd on Mon.

Thanks! i got my offer Monday morning, and the mail just came (Friday), and still didnt get the check. :( How long is it taking for everyone else from USGB?

I know that USGB tests it using some sort of laser assaying system that determines the karats of the gold.

Thay don't care if it's broken. It will eventually be melted down anyway.

I'm still waiting for my check too! I sent my stuff in Monday, got my offer on Tuesday, and still no check.

Holy crap! That's a lot of gold! Now, reading back, you had a local dealer who was going to give you $700 right?! WOW!! That's an amazing difference! Did you fall down when they told you how much you were getting?! I would!

YES! Disney for SURE is in your future!! Congrats!

That is good news, grumpy!

Maybe I will send in the few pieces that I have, it is just one small bracelet,it is suppose to be gold, I am going to check again, it is just too small for me to wear, I might be able to sell it for a better price in comparison to selling it to gold buyers. I have one long gold chain, with a pendant, however I have my doubts as to the pendant being gold, I believe that only the chain is, then I have a shorter gold chain, and a pair of small earrings, which I like to wear sometimes, however if it will bump up the value, why not add them, I just need to find them first. These are all very thin gold pieces, light weight, that is why I have debating whether or not to ship them off. I know that you can receive your property back, if the price offered, does not satisfy you, what a pain, though, to have to deal with that!
If it is only worth $10.00 oh well, maybe I will just keep it then, and try to sell it.

Good luck if you decide to give it a try! :thumbsup2

I am being sent a check for $317 for some gold and silver! Woo hoo. Just in time, to, to pay for the termites...

Didn't have all that much, either. DEFINITELY sent in my engagement ring and wedding band, lol, since my husband divorced me three years ago and left his family for another woman. Was GLAD to get rid of that.

Had 8.7 PW of 10K and 13.3 of 14K and 70 of silver.
