I have never met someone from around here, very cool...

I shipped to USGB last week, and got a great pay out... but found some more gold and I like you didn't think it was much...so, I sent to Goldfellow... they gave me a payout of 205. and I called USGB with the breakdown in pannyweight which was .6 and 11.5 and they told me 341.00.... so for 135.00 more.. I requested my gold back and it will go to USGB when I get it back.

Goldfellows was very kind I was honest and told them why I asked for it back...I checked Fed Ex and it is on its way back already...

Try which ever company you like... It was cool to see it posted on Goldfellows website..but they $$$ is better in my pocket!!!!

Thanks for sharing your info. I'll have to check out the USGB info more before making a decision. I was thinking about going to The Vault in Saratoga out of curiosity to see what they'd offer, but I really doubt it would be as much as the other two places everyone keeps talking about.

No that doesn't sound right...I had called them yesterday twice(my self and my dh) to compare a quote from another company and I had
10 Karat 11.5
14 Karat 6 pennyweight
so I was under 20 pennyweight and they told me 341.00


The cost of gold went up higher today too.... but I never see their payout chart change!?!?!

So what do I do? He did tell me that the price went up today. I am thinking I didn't get as much because it was under 5oz. Hmmm... Maybe if I have a little I will go with Goldfellows. But on the bright side it was $351 more then I had.

I just took 3 rings and 2 necklaces to our local gold buyer. I just got $1500. I don't know the total weights (sorry) but I know was not expecting that much at all!!!

Well, you can ask them to re check it, you figured you would get a bit more...if no change, i would take it... you will get less from Goldfellows...read my posts above...

ALSO, does anyone know if USGB accepts silver? I have several sterling pieces that I would like to sell as well. Can anyone help me with that?

There is no charge to you if you use FEDEX. You use their account number. They will reimburse if you only if you needed to ship by US Postal Service. You won't need to do that unless you need to insure your package for more than what FEDEX allows.

I had about 2.13 ounces and got offered $824 from USGB, but I had to ask them to recheck my gold. The initial offer was $671!

I just called and they didn't change the price. You guys are right they are not very friendly. I had some non-gold that I told them to donate. I don't really want it back. At least he gave me a better breakdown of what I had! Hopefully they don't keep records of difficult people So I can send more in.

Yes, that is their account number. Good luck! I was very happy with my payout $551.92. My Disney trip is already paid for, so I am using the money for my daughter's prom dress and down payment on her senior portraits My hubby paid for the new camera (dropped and broke the old one taking pics of my gold before sending it off)

So I'm finally going to do it (I think)! I've got my items and just have to drop them off. Don't know why I'm so nervous about it???? Seeing several posts I guess a few of us got nervous before sending off our packages.

I have the following items leaving me:
8 rings
5 necklaces
1 bracelet
3 pendants
11 earrings

The postal scale said 2.1 oz so minus the stones in the rings I'd say 1.8? The majority is 10kt gold. So anybody know how much that would be? I'm doing something wrong, my configurations are all over the place????

OK. I'm ready to take the plunge. My fed ex pack is packed and ready to go out tomorrow, to gold fellows. I had 20 pc of misc. gold and 30 pcs of silver.
(Wait... 30 pcs of silver, sounds like a line from Pirate of the Caribean!)

Some of the gold pcs I'm not sure about. One chain is nice and heavy, stamped 14K Italy, but its a dark color, almost like an old penny color. I tried cleaning with jewlery cleaner, didn't leave it in the cleaner long, and it didnt change it. So we'll see what happens. Came out of a storage locker purchase so some pcs were not mine originally. Also 2 chains are stamped 14K, but look to be filled, so I guess I wouln't expect anything for those. I don't have a way to weigh the items, but the pack feels nice and heavy.

I'll let you know how I do. Got to get my 2009 trip planning started!

The dark chains might be rose gold. It's popularity ebbs and flows. If the alloy content isn't precise--or if the designer wanted a specific colour--it can look more like copper than gold.

I believe USGB does accept silver. They don't post their payout, though. At least I haven't found it!

I'm thrilled! It was just sitting in my jewelry box. Some of the stuff was broken & I had some earrings missing matches. I'd rather have $500 go towards my 2009 trip!
