WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Thanks for the quick response, we have a Kinko's right down the street.

How do you send it for free? (if I'm reading correctly?....)

I haven't sent my package yet BUT on the instructions page it says to check Recipient box so I'm going to assume that means they pay it when they receive it so no cost to you.

For those of you who opted to receive a company check from USGB, how long did it take for the check to reach you? THANKS!

I shipped my jewelry on Wed. They received it on Thurs. I acceted my payout on Monday and I received my check on Friday - 4 days later.:yay:
And I live in CA.

Sent my stuff to GF on Thursday, they received my package on Friday by Friday afternoon I was $660.00 richer! Thanks to Disboards and everyone who shared their information! The process was so easy. I was only expecting $200-$300 for my old stuff, now we have extra spending money! What I liked about GF is some of my jewelry had pearls and other stones and they are sending all the stones back to me! Dont forget to mention you are a Disboards member they give you an extra 10% on your settlement!

How do you mention to GF that you are a Disboards member? just write in on the packing slip? I'm getting my things together now to package so it can be mailed tomorrow. TIA! Kimmie

Okay...I may be having a MAJOR blonde moment here, (which wouldn't be surprising when it comes to numbers:rolleyes::rotfl2: ), but when you look at the chart that USGB pays vs. Gold Fellows, there's a significant difference, right? We're talking like $10. more per oz. for 14K...or am I missing something?:confused3 Is one chart based on different figures than the other? I know posters have said that USGB does pay higher (but don't have great customer service), but the difference in price really does seem like a lot to me.

If someone can straighten me out, I'd be thankful.;)

Yes USGB does pay alot more, it seems.. For me I already had the package envelope etc for GF so it was just easier to drop it in drop box, (sortof wish I went with USGB think I would have gotten an extra $100-200) but yes you aren't confused.. :)

Yes just right it on the packing slip :)

Thanks! And I have one more question about this. I read that some of you sent jewelry with stones/gems and got the gems returned. Is this just something GF automatically does? I have 3 pairs of earrings and 5 rings I'd be willing to send in addition to everything else but would like to have the gems back. Thanks again, Kimmie

How much less does USGB's pay if you have under 5oz? Is it a 10% reduction in their rate, 25% ? I'm just trying to figure out how much different the payout would be with USGB's vs. GF since I don't have a tonne of gold. When I figured it out I estimated approx. $115 from GF with the 10% DIS bonus or $155 from USGB, but if USGB takes 25% off for <5oz. then I would get approx. $117 from them making it almost even. But if they only take of 10% then I would still get $25 more with them over GF.

Thanks!;) The whole pennyweight thing throws me for a loop:rolleyes: , so I thought maybe somehow I was also not reading these charts right or something?! Again, we'll blame it on the blonde hair for today (eventhough it's chemically enhanced:rolleyes1 ).:rotfl:

Not sure how they figure it, but I had a small amount and Goldfellows offered 205. with the 10%... and USGB offered 341.00

has anyone sent any silver? i have a small amount of gold, and some sterling silver rings

I sent a bunch of silver to GF. Sent them 2 packages, had a pleasant experience with them twice. I noticed USGB seems to pay the "same" figure a lot -- if you notice the posts, $341 pops up quite a bit from posters. Makes me wonder.

In total we've gotten just under $500 from GF for broken jewelry and stuff we wouldnt wear anymore. More than happy about it.

Well my sister and I pooled our gold in hope of hitting the 5 oz mark for a higher payout from US Goldbuyers. We just missed it, but did get an offer of $1,833! Woo hoo!

If you write it on the packing slip they will make sure to send them back to you! also if the stones are super tiny its hard for them to get them out, so they dont bother! Good Luck!:wizard:

I sent a few old bracelets and a charm and I got $15 plus $645 for all my gold! The silver would have gotten thrown away eventually so i'll take $15!

Which dealer did you end up going with?

I'm making a decision tomorrow (who to go through) and doing it!:thumbsup2
