I got my settlement call last Tuesday from USGOLD. Check mailed and I should receive today. I will post when I receive. I gave it some extra time due to the holiday.

With all of the publicity they have gotten, I really don't think they will 'stiff' anybody as we could turn around all their good publicity and just as easily make it bad. I don't think they'd be willing to risk that!!!!!

I know you can not tell me exactly but I don't really understand the way they weigh gold. I have some necklaces not really heavy but are 14k gold. How much do you think they weigh or are worth? A few are 16" and a 24". Since they are not real heavy I don't know what to expect.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but no they really do not anymore. I figured out that I would get close to $350 w/USGB and got my call today for $301. That's close to what I figured for Goldfellow.

At least it is more than the $163 a local person wanted.

I have a HUGE HEAVY ring that was my MIL's but she gave it to DH because it really isn't anything a woman would wear. It is a HUGE and very HEAVY Dartmouth College Football championship ring that was given to her one year because she was affiliated with them somehow. Anyway, I can't find anywhere on it where it says if it is real gold. Are some rings not marked anywhere?? Is there a test I can do to make sure it is real gold. I am sure it is, but I don't want to send it out only to be told that it is fake.

Do they send it back to you if it is fake???

I sent my stuff by regular mail last Th to Goldfellow. They just called and my settlement was ready. I went online, it was $80 and I am getting it via PayPal. I didn't have much but what I had was just collecting dust so I am happy with my $80!

Run a magnet over/close to it. If it sticks, it's not gold.

I also had several class rings and other similar rings and thought they were "gold" also. But they were not. They were very large and heavy also, as they were men sizes.

On 3 of them we couldn't even figure out what they were made of and could have only figured it out had we cut the ring(s) and I didn't want to do that.

So I brought them back home.

soccerchick - Maybe their prices are getting more competitive. I checked with both 2 weeks ago, knew that I had 23 pennyweight, and my quote from USGOLD was $200 more than the quote from GoldFellow. Quite a big difference for me!

Can't say what the comparison would be today though.

I just have been busy but meaning to post my USGOLDBUYERS experience.

I sent in on Monday of last week 3/17/08 and my package was received on 3/18/08.

I weighed on my postal scale 14kt @ 10dwt and 10kt @ 8dwt. Now of my 14kt two of them were cheapo rings with with stones which would have added to the weight.

I calculated like everyone else based on what the figures posted last week and figured a payout of 350.00 - so I decided because of the small amount of weight I would be happy with $300.00 -

I finally got a call around 6pm on Saturday with a payout amount of 225.00 So yes, quite a bit lower than I had hoped.

I did question everything and was told it was based on the value of the day received - in addition I was told they really don't even deal with such small amounts typically but because they already received it they just processed it. I don't have my notes here but I think he said it was based on 7dwt of 14kt and 7dwt of 10kt... so it wasn't really a fake gold problem but because of such a small amount ?

Anyway - that was my experience. I did have to literally have to dig in the bottom of my closet to find this junk jewlrey so no real loss for me - it was forgotten anyway. Still $225 to stick in my ING account so I can't complain too much!

I'm curious about this too.

On another note, I just sent out my stuff to USGB today. It will be there tomorrow. I sent them 3 14k necklaces, 1 10k necklace, 7 charms, 6 rings, 2 pairs of earrings and 2 individual earrings. We'll see what they give me for it.

I got my check in the mail today from US Gold Buyers. As said in my previous posts it was not as much as I expected but anything is better than nothing for stuff I was no longer using. USGoldBuyers are still not returning my calls, I have left 4 messages now because I wanted to make sure I got the payout for the days gold prices when my items were received. So everyone thinks USGB and Goldfellow's are about the same payout now? If so the few items I just found I may sent to Goldfellows, seems like they are more "personable." My check was here within a few days though from USGB and the guy that called me with my payout was really nice, its my fault for not asking what prices they were using. I was fixing supper and had other things on my mind. I am sure everyone will get paid OK with either company so I would not worry about that and actually $900 is still a good price for gold! Lisa

if they put it into your Pay Pal account, it should be there immediately less the PP fees. Then you just have to transfer it to your bank account or request a check from PP

Just got my check from USGOLD!!!

Mailed in on 3/14, they received 3/15, got settlement amount from them on 3/18, received check tody 3/24.

I had 23 pennyweight of 14K and got a check for $570 which comes out to $24.78/pennyweight. This was $200 MORE than GoldFellow quoted me the same day. I understand now though that their prices are becoming a bit more competitive.

Did you use USGB or Goldfellow?

I used Goldfellow first and had a great experience. I was greedy and saw the higher payouts at USGB and now I am just waiting......

They received my box on Thursday. Haven't heard anything......just waiting.
