Anyone know what affects gold prices? Wanna venture a guess as to whether its going to go back up? I have mine ready to mail. Don't have very much stuff and probably should just send it.

I got a message on my answering machine last night at 8:20pm from US Goldbuyers saying that they had a payout for me. They called back today with an offer of $551.92.
At least it was more than the $235.00 it cost me to replace the camera that I broke trying to get a pic of the gold before I packaged it up!!
I accepted and should be receiving their company check by next week. I never weighed all the gold accurately( I had a little over an ounce or so) and I didn't even ask what I got per pennyweight... Didn't care actually, since all that crap was just sitting in my bureau drawers for over 20 years anyway!!

A weak dollar makes gold go up and conversely a strong dollar makes gold go down. When the Fed's cut the short tem interest rate on Tuesday, gold went down because the dollar went up. HTH!

I finally got my call from USGB. My stuff was delivered on Sat. at noon. I was getting scared because they wouldn't return my phone calls and everyone else seems to be getting a call when they sent their stuff after I sent mine in. I have called twice and just got the answering machine, I left messages but no one has ever called back. Anyhow, I am a little disappointed with my payout also. They said Gold prices are down- just my luck - and for my 25.8 dwt weight which equals 1.41 oz of stuff I was offered $371 - I figured I would get at least $500. Oh Well! Half of my stuff was 10K and half was 14K. I should have asked what was for what. It is better than nothing though and it was just stuff sitting in my dresser so I took the DEAL! The guy that called me was really nice and also said I could change my mind about putting the money into my paypal acct or them sending a company check. He said it would cost like 2% or 3% to get it through paypal and nothing with a company check that would go out in todays mail. I am in no hurry. Thanks for everyones advice on here! Lisa1130 - You should ask for a breakdown of your 10k and 14k. My package was received Sat. as well. I had all 14K, 23 pennyweight and I am getting $570.

They SHOULD also be paying you on Saturday's rate, the day they received it. NOT the day they looked at it. I don't have my numbers right in front of me and I can't remember the price/pennyweight he gave me.

Maybe you had more 10k than 14K. Maybe they paid you on today's rate, which has dropped since Saturday. Double check, you should be getting Saturday's higher rate!!

Finally got my call from USGB.... $401 !!!!! My local store offered me $130..what a joke! Should get my check in 3-5 business days.

It was delivered to USGB around noon on Saturday. Be Patient! They are running behind, but it will happen!

DeAnna4140 - How do I double check the prices I was getting? They don't answer the phone! LOL! I did not know I should get Sat. gold prices, that would be wonderful! Maybe I am figuring it wrong too and I do know that only one necklace and one bracelet was 14K the other 6 pieces was 10K. I wrote down that I had 25.8 dwt, or 40.1 grams, 1.41 oz, 1.29 ozt because that is how my jewery scales can measure it. By the chart currently on USGB website todays prices are 16.35 per DWT ($18.17 - 10% for less than 5 oz) so I was thinking that I had at least 25.8 DWT and even if counting it all as 10K that should have been $421.83 but I don't know. I am so confused about all of these weights/prices. $371.00 is still more than I had last week at this time! I am just not so sure I want to send them any more items. Lisa

I sent to Gold Fellow. I bet it will be next week. I am so anxious. DH think we are gonna get $50,

I sent 38g of 14k and 5g of 10k. I also sent a pile of other things I just was not sure about. They are all probably silver, :l)

Lisa11130 - Keep calling them to find out. First thing I would ask is how much 10k and how much 14K.

I had 23 pennyweight = 36 grams = $570. That comes to $24.78/pennyweight. This was Saturday's price and that was the day you said your package arrived right? I do not know the Saturday price for 10K because I didn't have any. They should provide you with a breakdown and a price per pennyweight for both 10k and 14k. Keep trying to call them. Leave a message?

Well I am really disappointed...I think.
I was so excited, I have a 22 inch chain (weighs 23 grams) that is marked on the clasp 18k (the tiny hangy thing on the clasp).
however, it is magnetic! Didn't I read someone on here say gold is NOT magnetic??
Can anyone else confirm this or test their gold for me to see if it sticks to a magnet?
(None of my 10k or 14k pieces stick to the magnet, just the 18k!)

Do you have to contact them first? Or can I just print up the Method of Payment Form (I got off their website) take a pic and mail it to the address listed on the form?

They say they aren't accepting any packages until Monday - what if I just send it fedex?

Brooknwdw: I have a new 14K gold chain that I just got for my birthday and it is marked 14k and does not stick to my magnet. It is very odd that yours is marked but sticks to a magnet. Does the magnet stick to the clasp or to the actual chain? I was told at Kays that the clasp was not real gold because it would not hold up as well. Might check that. Lisa
