Brooknwdw: I have a new 14K gold chain that I just got for my birthday and it is marked 14k and does not stick to my magnet. It is very odd that yours is marked but sticks to a magnet. Does the magnet stick to the clasp or to the actual chain? I was told at Kays that the clasp was not real gold because it would not hold up as well. Might check that. Lisa

No, the necklace itself sticks to the magnet..or at least is drawn to the magnet. From what I've read on the internet this evening..this means its not real.

Anyone else know?

oh dear. It's probably not gold. What I heard is that some places use gold clasps because that is where the marking is, and then not use gold for the chain. A few of my chains were like that.

Just got a call from US GoldBuyers... they will be sending me a check for $712!

I mailed my package via FedEx late Monday and they received it late Tuesday. They called today (Friday) and will mail out my payment today.

I have a HUGE HEAVY ring that was my MIL's but she gave it to DH because it really isn't anything a woman would wear. It is a HUGE and very HEAVY Dartmouth College Football championship ring that was given to her one year because she was affiliated with them somehow. Anyway, I can't find anywhere on it where it says if it is real gold. Are some rings not marked anywhere?? Is there a test I can do to make sure it is real gold. I am sure it is, but I don't want to send it out only to be told that it is fake.

Do they send it back to you if it is fake???

I had a 18 inch rope chain like that. I took it 2 different jewelers because I was skeptical. They said it was a high quallity gold plated necklace with 14KT clasp.

I rec'd my call from US goldbuyers today. They rec'd my package on Saturday. They offered $395 for my stuff pictured below. The gold watch & the thin chain were not real gold. $395 is not too shabby for stuff sitting in my jewelry box collecting dust. Thanks OP!

No, I did not remove it. It was my high school class ring so the stone did not mean anything to me nor do I think it was worth anything.

Honestly, I kind of wish I went with Goldfellow, they seem to be more customer oriented from reading this thread.

The guy that called me from US Goldbuyers was not very helpful when I asked for a breakdown, etc. They also didn't even offer to send back the stuff that was not real gold. They did not say anything about the stone either.

Ugg and here I was thinking it was US Gold so I didnt note anything on my goldfellows paper work lol
