WOW! I got a very low rate for a 7 day Western 2006

I just booked Cat 11 for the special cruise on 8/19 for my son and I and was quoted $2099.56. When I tried SCL website, I was unable to bring up the special dates. I was quoted almost $800 more for the regular western cruise on 8/12!!

WOW It seems to be the 8/19/06 cruise will be a DIS cruise. There is a thread started already.

The DCL # is 1-877-566-0968

We booked a category 8 for a family 0f 4 Total was 4199.12

Much more than I paid this year. But the prices are sure to go up, and we are booking 2 years out.

If ANYONE is going to give up a Secret Porthole Room, can you please PM or e mail me before you do it. We had a SPR on our 10 day Western last August and LOVED it.

Thanks
Joanna

I talked to the DCL folks on the phone and asked about the website not showing the "special" cruises correctly. She said that they are fixing that a group at a time and in the meantime she could give me a quote. Looks like we may be taking our first cruise in June 2006!:bounce:

We booked our second cruise today also!!!

Going on 7 day Eastern April 29 - May 6, 2006

Got the same room we had on our first cruise this past April except on the opposite side of the ship.

Cat 5 2 adults for ~$3200.00

Is it too soon to start a countdown counter??

I just booked 8/19 too after initially booking 8/26. After reading the boards, I called DCL and verified the 8/19 cruise is a "Special" Western cruise. It still shows as an Eastern Cruise on the DCL website. The itinerary is Castaway Cay, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Castaway Cay. I've never been on a DCL cruise and currently have three booked. I am hedging my bets that my husband will love cruising after our first cruise. Here are some example prices via DCL website for 2006 for Category 6 for 2 Adults and 2 Kids 8-12 including insurance and transfers:

June 17.....$7,924
April 8.......$8,364
July 15......$7,524
Aug. 19.....$5,391
Aug. 26.....$5,444
Sept. 23....$4,424

I booked the special Aug 19 2006 cruise yesterday and started my timer.. Its like 688 to go.. Come and join us over there. The link is a few notes above. We had a great time in Aug 2004 and are doing it again. As far as hurricanes, we never knew there was one. Give it a try.. we do lots of DIS friends meetings on board and have become great friends..:bounce:

See you there
Doreen

Hi All-

I also booked my '06 cruise yesterday. 12/9/06 (yeah, that'll be here soon  ) 2 adults, one then 6 year-old, $3500 (and some change) for a category 4. I was ALL OVER that!!!

I cannot wait!!!

Erin :D

Well, guess what I did today? I requested a quote for July 22,2006 special western. I wanted to go with the August 19, but since DS will be a Jr in HS, and is limited to 6 absent days a semester, we went with a safe date, since we don't know when school is starting. I expected DH to argue with me about the cost and booking so far in advance, but he asked me what I was waiting for...lol :p

So I am sitting here waiting for a quote from DU , credit card in hand. And I still have to pay for June 05's cruise :hyper:

We booked today for 8/19/06. Two adults, one 7 year old and one 13 year old for $3,297 for cat. 11. This is thru DU. My TA could not get close to that price thru Disney. She was almost $500 higher. How do we get on the DIS list?

Hi,
I just booked our 2nd Disney Cruise today, for 8/19/06!! Two visits to Castaway Cay will be heaven!

We have a Category 6 and have been assigned to room 6110 (anyone ever have this room? We stayed in 6052 last time and liked the location a lot!!) At the time of sailing we will be: me (42) DH (44) DD (11) DD (8) (seems weird to write that my "baby" will be 8, and that I'll be 42, nonetheless!!!!)

I'm confused, if you go out to the DCL website the 8/19 cruise is showing as an Eastern? Help I want to go to CC twice.:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

check under special cruises where it says 7 night cruise to costa maya, thats where it is listed.

so that 4800 we're paying for DH, DS14 and myself is actually cheap? cat 7

New Holidayx2 you did very good for a veranda room!

Penny

the 8/19 Date is already during the school year here in metro atlanta. assuming we are not the only ones starting that early, the proportional decrease in demand is probably one of the factors in why the prices seem relatively attractive compared to other summer weeks in '06.

goofysgirl, they are talking about 2006? That may be what is causing the mix up. You should definately check it out if you are interested in 2 stops at Castaway Cay. Wish I were going.

I just called to book a Cat 6 on the Special Western August 19 - 26th 2004. I was curious if there was a large difference in price between the standard Western Caribbean and the Special Western Carribean.

I was quoted the following:

Cat 6 - Standard 8/12 - 8/19 - $5,800

Cat 6 - Special 8/19/ - 8/26 - $4,500

$1,300 - Are you kidding me? And we get to go to CC twice??

The DCL CM and I were so suprised by the price disparity that she checked it three times while speaking with her supervisior.

Needless to say, I booked in a heartbeat.

Jeff

The reason for the price difference is because the Magic is going to CC twice there are no port charges. We're doing back-to-back cruises on 8/12 and 8/19. We're staying in the same room but there is about a $2,000 price difference between the two weeks.
