Wow...harsh...

Wow! I never thought I would hear the word 'relaxing' used to describe O'Hana. Not that I mean to knock O'hana, as I do enjoy it (though the food can be hit or miss). I just never thought of it as a place to go and have a relaxing meal.

For us it truly was relaxing. The kids had a great time playing games and we could sit back and watch them. It was a great meal for our family. If you don't have children with you I'm sure it's not the same.

I love the food at Ohana, its always been top notch for me. And though I don't have kids, the games are always fun to watch.

What can make or break Ohana for me is the server. We have had some rude ones! And some great ones, don't get me wrong. But being a table of just two, it was hard to get the attention of some that we have had to get what we needed.

But Ohana is a favorite of mine, a must do on every trip. :thumbsup2 Do not go by the reviews, decide for yourself. Wolfgang Puck's gets great reviews here, but we hate it. Go figure. To each their own. But if Ohana's sounds interesting to you, give it a try. Don't knock it til you've tried it!

we loved the old Ohana and were disappointed when they changed it, however, we are going to give them another try this coming trip.

I've done 'Ohana twice now, both times with an all adult party of about 8-10. Yes, it can get loud and raucous in there. I sometimes wish they would turn down the volume a bit. Both times we have had decent service. The first time was the best service. Last Dec was a bit slow. But, we ended up making a joke of it with our servers..they got the hints!!
The food is fine, not terrific, but fine. Okay, I love the salad and the veggies. The potatoes are always a huge hit, and the appetizers have been good as well. I'm not as crazy about the meat skewers though. Both times the meat has been a bit on the dry side. But, since I'm more of a veggie eater, that has worked out fine for me.
I'm taking my dd and dh this summer...they have yet to experience 'Ohana. I'm curious to see how they feel about it.
Is 'Ohana the best dining on property? No. Is it a quiet, relaxing spot to enjoy a few cocktails and some adult conversation? Nope. Will you trip over kids running everywhere, all the while being encouraged by the CM's? Yep. I guess I can't complain since I got chosen to hold on end of the dread limbo pole one night. So, I contributed to the mayhem. But it is WDW after all.....you are going to find rowdy, noisy people in just about all of the restaurants.

I think most of the food at O'hana is just nasty, although the salad and wings were good. I do, however, love Kona.

We've been going to 'Ohana a couple of times a year for many years. The food is usually good, but really the experience is more for the kid's games which my children always enjoy. We went last week, my oldest (16), who always requests to go there, said she doesn't feel the need to go back again. What I didn't like was all the food was delivered to our table within 15 minutes. I said to the waiter, 'already?' and he said 'yes'. By the time I finished my wings, salad & shrimp the potatoes & veggies were cold. yuck. When we go again I won't hesitiate to ask for the food to be re-heated. The meal seems to be a lot more rushed than it used to be.

Oh yes - 'Ohana is an awful place! Don't go there!! ;) (Let's make it easier for the 'Ohana-lovers to make reservations!!) :lmao:

DH and I have been to 'Ohana twice just the two of us and I'm looking forward to going back!!!

That is quite a surprising review indeed - I wonder if the writer was having a bad day? :confused3

We enjoy Ohana dinner, but to us the breakfast is very bland. However, the character interaction is great.

Couldnt agree more with this review .. the entertainment is horrible x 5. You would figure that a restaurant with the location that Ohana has that it would be one of the signature type places to dine.

Well I've never been here but I have ressies at 7:30 this year & am hoping to see fireworks either from the windows or from the beach after dinner. I have 3 kids under 6 & am really hoping for loud & obnoxious. Can't we parents get to have cool views & drinks from pineapples too? As for the food, kabobs generally produce dry meat (the kabobs at Marakesh are dry for sure) so it will come as no surprise to me.

But as my sister & I like to point out when you are a parent of young ones you generally eat leftover chicken nuggets at Burger King & cold french fries while listening to the other kids scream with the lovely ambience of a play center. And believe me, no alcohol. Surely Ohana isn't as bad as that!

We ate at Ohana for breakfast last September, and we loved the service, LOVED the food, loved the characters, and loved the view. (Perfect view of Cinderella's castle, what is this whacko talking about?) Our only complaint was that it took way too long for a party of two - who were on time with DR's - to be seated.

Mlayton14--there WAS a "Signature" restaurant at that very location--Papeete Bay.
And tho I think the food is pretty good, the rest of that description is exactly what we thought of the place. And our seats were actually away from all the major carryings-on.

Yep, that right there kinda puts it all in perspective, huh? :rotfl2: Hey, I figure, I'm at Disney World, I don't have to cook, I'm having fun. I love a wonderful gourmet meal in elegant surroundings, too, but I'm not expecting that everywhere we go. And I'm expecting some places to be loud, rowdy, campy, full of rambunctious little kids -- it's all good. :goodvibes

The whole idea is to have fun, and that's what the place is all about! Food is a subjective thing, we all don't have the same tastes so....... :confused3
