It didn't work that way at US Airways or American Airlines, the two instances where I've had to deal with credit vouchers. The name of the passenger was a change that was not permitted (without presentation of a death certificate).
Wow, my experience on AA in February 2006 was very different than yours. My husband and I both had small vouchers from a fare drop in 2005. We combined them to purchase a single ticket for him. This allowed us to avoid a second "over the phone" booking charge for my ticket, which we booked online. Unlike CO, AA will let you combine vouchers to purchase a single ticket.
I agree with other posters, there is no reason for the OP not to get the vouchers, if he can. I was just trying to make him aware of some of the rules he will need to follow to make sure he then gets some value out of them once they are in his hands.
