Would You Upgrade??

I have booked CSR with a king room DDP and 14 day ultimate tickets on the buy 10 get 4 free offer, but if I cancelled my booking and rebooked for the about £50 more I could have SSR (studio room) with free DDP and 14 day ultimate tickets.

Would you upgrade? I really like the look of CSR (especially the pepper market and the new rooms ), but SSR looks pretty and you get a balcony. Its just SSR doesnt seem to have much theming and looks huge especially as we are dependent on using disney transportation.

What would you do - we are a couple of with no children

I'm not sure how valid my reply is as I've never stayed ar CSR! However, I have stayed in SSR several times, and I think it's got a lot in its favour.

The SSR studio will have a queen bed and a sofa and a small kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee maker and sink - although if you're on the DDP maybe fixing your own breakfast/snacks in the room isn't something you plan doing! Artsit's Palette has a good selection of lighter meals and snacks.

One big draw for me is that SSR is within walking distance (or a short and very pleasant boat ride)of Downtown Disney with the Marketplace and West Side. Although the resort is large there are bus stops in each section and you can get the bus to the main building if you don't want to walk, although most sections have short-cuts.

I also think a balcony is a great extra - whether it's for sitting out in the morning with a cup of coffee or in the evning with a glass of something chilled

If it was me then yeah I probably would upgrade as £50 seems like a bargain! As we're only doing 7 nights it'd be loads more since the 10 plus 4 offer doesn't apply, it did cost more to stay in a value with dining though As far as transport i'm not sure.. CSR is fairly big aswell so the situation may be similar at both resorts.

we visited both resorts last year, both look fab but i would
deffo upgrade to a deluxe, we done the same as yaself an
upgraded from akl/pop to yacht club.

Definately upgrade for the £50.

We stayed at SSR in 2007 and are going again this year. The resort is lovely and is ideally located for DTD.

I think that the extras you will be getting at SSR are more than worth £50.

We ugraded from Pop to SSR & saved £62 (3 of us). I would go for it for £50.

i was going to do this but as we booked last year when the free dining was on for this aug the ticket prices had gone up so we had to pay more for them and they wanted us to cancel and rebook with a 25 amendment fee

Right I'm going to stay at CSR I think - SSR just doesnt excite us I prefer the theming, size of the resort and room service at CSR, if I had the choice of any other the DVC's apart from OKW and SSR it would be a different decision though!

yes go for it,rooms bigger at SSR and more facility's as well in room, nice walking to Downtown disney to give you plenty of options to eat.
And the spread isn't to bad at ssr and buses ok
And as you don't have a car your within walking distance to the hess garage for sodas,beers and waters a lot cheaper than disney prices

You'd be crazy not to upgrade for such a low price. The moderate resorts are ok - but really, they're just themed motels - you don't even get a balcony.

I have stayed at WL several times, Poly x 2, POFQ x 1, BC x 1, Saratoga Springs x 2, OKW x 1 VWL x 1 and Saratoga Springs is one of my favourites. I don't know that theming comes into it - you just don't get the same facilities in a moderate resort as a deluxe resort.

CSR has a health spa, room service (not pizza delivery), business services, adults only evening bar etc so I think the facilites are good enough to be honest. The theming is really important to us - if it wasnt we would just stay offsite and save some cash.

I agree! You're jumping from a 3 star to a 4-5 star hotel, getting a much nicer room with kitchen facilities and a balcony, and a much better location within walking distance of DTD. It's a no brainer IMO.

I think just about everyone (including me, we are doing OKW with free DDP) would upgrade but you obviously know what you want from your holiday. Your decision.

SSR is wonderful DH and I have stayed there twice now and the walk from DTD is an added bonus for going out in the evening. We also love the fact you have a baclony and kitchenette

Thanks Wayne - I posted on the US boards and its a bit more divided. If we werent doing DDP and would use the kitchen facilities I would be more inclined, and I do think the rooms are really nice (but so are the new CSR rooms ). The hotel just doesnt excite me - which is just down to preference I guess!

Maybe its because I've swapped from Pop to POFQ to CSR - I can't facing swapping hotels again!

With the exchange rates the way they are, the free dining is a huge bargain! So from the point of view of the 10 plus 4 deal, I'd guess you would save more money with the dining plan. Can you get it at CSR? My OH and I booked in the deal that was going before christmas and have a trip planned for September at OKW with free dining. Our choices were between OKW and SSR for the best deal as it were.

I've swithered back and forth have we booked the right place, would we be better in the motel type places but what it comes down to is the quality of the accomodation looks so much better in the DVC propertys. Our reason for not picking SSR originally was because of the size and not wanting to have a rental car.

I'm pretty happy that we have chosen the right place having looked and looked and read and read. You would definetly be getting the best value for your money taking the dining plan and up grading the accomodation - though I would say you shouldn't discount OKW altogether By all accounts the floor space is the largest studio going!

I know how excited you are about CSR, and what if you spend your whole trip thinking 'I wish I was at the dig site pool' etc.

People think I'm mad as I could pay an extra £60 and move from AKL to SSr and get free dining. But I know if I had DDP then I'd go to Boma and Jiko and be bummed out that I wasn't staying at AKL.

Also there's a reason SSR and OKW have such a huge discount on them......

Congratulations on your first post!! We have DDP already on the buy 10 get 4 free deal - and as weve booked a king room it works out pretty much the same as SSR or OKW with free DDP on the current free DDP offer.
