Would you try to avoid the 50th celebration?

I would keep September. I think Rat may be open, but I don't think Tron or Guardians will be ready by either Sept. or Oct. And Oct will be significantly more crowded..

Hard pass for me. I am targeting a trip ASAP to take advantage of the lower park capacities. After that I'll be riding things out for fireworks return and hopefully the return of the Halloween Party.

I wouldn’t move your trip just for that week. I’m planning a trip in early 2022 with the hopes that more will be back and the 50th anniversary celebrations, whatever they may be, will still be going on.

I'll be there. Got a park reservation for October 1st in MK. I have an AP so even if I just see what's going & am there I am fine with that. Haven't decided on the rest of the weekend yet what to do. I happened to be at Epcot a few years ago when they had their 35th anniversary. Nothing crazy (some buttons, photo opps) but it was fun to be there that day.

I sort of remember the 25th anniversary. The pink on the castle. I've been there every year since 1987, but I don't really remember much of the special features or extras with the anniversary celebrations.

I'm hopeful that with the mass vaccinations (supposedly within first 100 days of Biden's reign right?), that fireworks will return even earlier than one might think. They have been testing fireworks, and working on Harmonious. And they're opening BB in March. To me, if you can have guests without masks, at a water park, then you could have fireworks, parades, and shows. But there's also money to be saved by the Disney Co., so who knows when.

We are in the avoid crowd for 10/1, but considering going two weeks later for my birthday. While we love Disney we aren’t super fans that feel any need to be there on the actual anniversary.

There's a few of us here on this thread, that stated Oct. 14ish. For Pop, for instance, rack rates are $269 for Oct1-2, and $210/$222/$261 Oct 3-Oct 7, $272 for Oct 8-10 for Columbus Day. Pretty big savings, potentially for someone able to go a little later: $191/$208/$233 for Oct. 24- Nov 3, and that's for a value resort.

We go at various times of the yr., but tend to go early Sept the most often for our anniversary. It definitely bothers me already, that I wouldn't be there right on the anniversary. But I'm also a very impatient person... like I may have a disorder, and really value less wait times over anything else. I have a higher tolerance for WDW waiting vs. other things, but that's part of why we tend to go in Sept., despite the heat and rain.

Have my park reservation for MK on Oct 1st! Haven't booked anything else and even just got a 1 day ticket for now as I have no idea what that trip will look like, but made sure I had that day booked the day it opened. Can't wait!

Think an interesting pick for a stay could be end of Sept 2022- early Oct 2022 to still get the 50th celebration at MK and the start of the EP 40th celebration.

Congrats

I was at Disneyland for their 10th. I was working at Disneyland for the 25th and 30th. And again (in a different job) for Disneyland's 50th and 55th. I was ready to work for the 60th, but we all know what happened to that celebration.

I'm a new WDW visitor - my first trip was 2008 - but I would love to be there for MK's 50th. I wonder if it might be worth it to just be in The World on that day even though I couldn't be in Magic Kingdom...

Pondering...

My guess is they’ll increase capacity for the parks between now and October so we’ll see more availability eventually.

This is what I think as well. It’s booked at 35/40% and when they increase capacity they will open up spots. At least that’s what I assume will happen.

wow, your resume is awesome. I think it would still be neat to be at WDW during that day, even if not at MK. It seems like they've been expanding park reservation availability, you just have to be right on top of it when they do.

I have a resort reservation and planned on buying tickets and booking MK for Oct 1st yesterday. Since MK is filled, I'll keep trying to get in but if not I will be cancelling that long weekend.

I've been to opening day of Pandora, Toy Story Land, New Fantasyland and Galaxy's Edge so I was kind of hoping to be in MK for the 50th.

We would love to be at Disney for the beginning of the 50th anniversary however there are too many negative variables in the way. Until everything is open similar to pre-pandemic, and we as a nation get this under control I just don’t thing it’s safe enough and worth fighting the crowds. I believe later in 2022 will be a better experience than October 2021. If we are going to spend big dollars, I want to feel safe and have every option open to us. Disney will also need to get everything back to normal and they will so we can have the most magical experience for the investment that we make in our vacations.
