Would you try to avoid the 50th celebration?

We are going back the end of October.
While I expect it to be busy, I don't expect it to be anywhere near Oct 1.
You couldn't pay me to be there Oct. 1.
Hoping things are closer to normal by then.
I think it will be exactly as crowded as the first couple of week of October, or worse. Think of what we saw with the opening of Galaxy's edge. It only got more and more insane in December-February after they opened up Rise of Resistance because everyone said "Oh we'll wait a little a big for crowds to go down" and booked trips for a month or two after Rise opened. I expect end of October will be the dates everyone views at the sweet spot between opening day and Thanksgiving and it will be packed.

How crowded do you think it will be 11/5-11/12? End of oct is always busy being near Halloween, and now the modified parties will be back. I was hoping we’re enough away from both Halloween and Thanksgiving. My guess is that the combo of 50th, Rat, F&W, pent up demand and such will bump up a level that week from 4/5 during weekdays and 5/6 wknds. Maybe comparable to July crowds but not approaching a normal Thanksgiving or Easter.

That would be Jersey Week through Veteran’s Day—historically one of the most crowded weeks in the fall.

I'm still not worried.
Resorts seem full, but they always do in October and even though people talk of horrendous crowds in October now, we never felt that way.
Plus, there's still quite a few of the resorts that are closed, so of course other resorts will be booked faster.

I don't think Boo Bash is going to bring in that many more bookings to be honest. Outside of Rat opening, there really isn't much to draw people to October yet other than the normal October festivities. And there still hasn't been much loosening of restrictions, so those that are waiting for that to drop are probably still waiting.

I don’t care what the celebration or event is, anything that’s going to make the parks busier is some thing that would make me avoid those weeks.

Pre covid I would agree with you. But with everyone wanting to go on vacation I honestly don't think there will be a non busy time any time soon.

Think most of sept until towards the end with the extended anniversary stays, should be a relative low. Usually the case with Sept with kids freshly back to school, the heat humidity, storms, but now with Rat and the 50th around the corner, a calm before the storm.

Just wanted to bump - before it seemed almost no resorts were available for October, but if you look now, a lot of availability again. My resort was sold out for our dates, now every category is available!

Perhaps they were capping hotel capacity, now releasing more rooms...

I was there 10/30-11/4 in 2019 and it was completely dead. Like walk on Big Thunder at 2pm dead. Even Halloween wasn't busy at all (wasn't at MK that day though). Definitely my slowest pre-Covid trip by far and honestly not much more crowded than August 2020. But the week after (the one you mentioned) is historically one of the busiest weeks of the year. But, I'm not sure how well you can compare now.

Thank you, been waiting for them to come out with hotel reservations. I have seen Swan Dolphin, and even got somewhat tempted to booking Dolphin for $182. But the one last ME sort of makes me want to wait to go back to S&D until 2022, when the lack of free transportation to and from MCO equals out.

I think with free cancelations we’ll book and then still try for AP upgrade once they come out in rumored Aug for booking at a discount.

Yes- not sure how pop Warner would be this year. I think the 50th starting the month before and canceled trips being rescheduled may change things some. We haven’t been during that week since 2015 I think, and didn’t even really notice much of a bump in crowds. Hopefully for us, even more concentrations of people in Oct and around Thanksgiving but we’ll see.

I had zero interest in being there October 1. But things changed. I have an AP and some friends are going to be there so I'm bumming a ride and will be there. Whatever we get done will be fine with me. I just want to be in my happy place. I'm hoping to do Ratatouille, Space 220 and some of the rides I missed on my last couple post-covid trips.

Hi, I was just curious why that week is historically one of the busiest weeks of the year. Is it because of Jersey Week? I heard that this year that would be the week before (nov4-5) so I was thinking it might not affect the week beginning nov 7.

Jersey Week usually leads into Veterans Day, so that combination usually creates a busy time. Could be different this year though.

These boards talk a lot about Jersey Week, but I don’t think it’s really a big crowd generator. The flights from the NY/NJ/PA area might be more expensive, but there aren’t so many more people that there’s a huge bump in park attendance.

Veterans’ Day does spike attendance, but that’s because it’s a holiday weekend, and lots of people have it off.

I'm not thinking there are doing much extra for the 50th that hasn't already been announced unfortunately. We were in MK for the 40th anniversary (by accident, we didn't know, we were newbies back then). Anyways, it was the busiest most scary, unmagical day we have had there. Too many people, very long waits. Cast members constantly yelling (and I mean yelling), at guests during the fireworks to keep laneways open. I am not claustrophobic, but I was feeling a little panicky that night with so many people jammed into the hub and no crowd control seemed to be working. Hopefully they have learned from that, but I would still avoid that day at MK unless you REALLY need to buy merchandise.

Yeah Veterans Day is interesting bc it’s a federal holiday but when I was in the private sector I never got it off. The schools here used to have it off but they don’t anymore. I’m sure lots of people still get it off though and having it on a Thursday this year might make an extra long weekend tempting. I wonder if a lot of locals get the day off.
