Would you take advantage of this?

For many Guests, purchasing additional memory cards was the only way to capture more Disney memories before returning home to download images. Fortunately, a new Disney photo service presents a more affordable solution.

Camera centers at all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks now offer a CD-burning service that allows Cast Members to download images from Guests' media cards onto a CD, clearing Guests' camera space and allowing them to continue taking vacation photos without buying a new card. The cost for this service is $11.99 per CD."

Frankly, I'd be pretty nervous handing a CM all my vacation photos, but it is cheaper than buying a new card. Would you do this?

Hmmm, it does sound appealing - but I would also be nervous about potential loss.

I would not plan on this service. When we were at Disney in June 2004, I attempted to download to the CD and was unable to on site. At home I take the card to the locate supermarket and they have a Kodak machine where you download to the CD yourself. It takes only a few minutes. At Disney I was told they send the cards out, pickup was around 10:00am and they would be back after 3:00pm. The next day I stopped at MGM at 9:15am but was told because I had a Fuji camera card they could not send it because the card was a different size.

I'd be a little nervous also, but I guess it's ultimately the same thing as handing the person behind the counter at CVS your roll of film.

Yes...I have used this type of service before when DH and I were on a one month Honeymoon in New Zealand. We had no problem and found that it came in very handy.

It cost $14.95 on the Disney Magic to dump my memory card onto a CD. The CM showed me that the pics were on the CD and I then had the choice of deleting all pics on the memory card or not. I didn't because I did have a second memory card..I put the pics on the CD just as a backup, because I was afraid of losing the pics on the first memory card.

So...if they work it the same way at the parks (showing you on a computer screen that your photos are on the CD), then I'd have no problem doing it.

If you have a car why dont you find a drugstore that has the Kodak machine? Thats what I am planning on doing. I would rather take the 15 minute drive and know that it is being done right. I might just wind up borrowing a second memory card I definitely dont need to purchase a second one.

Memory cards have been on sale a lot recently. For less than $30, I can buy a card that will hold 300 pictures. Thats the same amount as the disney service and I know that my pics will be there when I get home.

For just pictures this may not be cost efficient, but my laptop is never further away than the trunk of my car.

my laptop doesn't have a CD burner though.

All in all...if you don't have a backup memory card, or a laptop, or a car to drive you to Wal-Mart, then I think $11 is not a bad price to get the pics dumped on a CD. Just make sure you get to see that they're on the CD!
