Would you take a flight that connects in two cities to save money?

Delta has a flight from MHT to MCO for $121. Its during April Vaca week but the catch is you have to connect in TWO cities before arriving in Orlando. Plus the planes are smaller. The flight leaves at 6am and arrives in Orlando around 1:30pm. Maybe I should just wait?

Not ever- I fly direct-too many unknowns when connecting. Just my 2 cents. :flower:

Even though it may be a good deal, I personally don't think that is a good idea. We always take direct even though it may be more expensive. It's tough enough for the children to sit still for 2 1/2 hours, let alone to keep waiting for the plane to land and start up again.

It's normally a 3 hour flight, 7 and a half hours and 2 connections - Not worth it in my book.

Check Southwest, they had been having some decent fares out of Manchester.

hhhhhmmmmmm....no.

That's a good price, and I might remotely consider it if it was ONE connection and I couldn't get direct on SWA for under $200....but TWO conenctions....nope, no way. Too many ups and downs and variables and hurry up and wait...too tiring IMHO.

I just checked the day before and the have regular flights for the same price. So I just booked them. I guess they are offering inexpensive fares for all dates right now.

I would if it was just me and my DH I would. Flights to Orlando from Boise avg at about $350 per person. If I had my DD who is 8 months old, no way!

If I was traveling alone and the price differential was significant, I might -- but it would depend on which two cities. If one of them is Atlanta, especially in the summer, I think NOT! I prefer same-day service.

The airline also matters greatly in those schemes. I'd be much more inclined to do it with American than with Delta. I've had some good connections with Delta, but American always works better for me. I'm doing a two-stop trip on American in a few weeks (not by choice, there's no other way) and I'm not concerned.

Obviously, if you are a fearful flyer, two stops would be more difficult.

Nope. No way. Every single flight that week will be excessively overbooked. Every stop is another chance to get bumped and end up in stand by h***. That week, I would spend for a direct flight or even drive.

Don't do it!!! Seriously though. I just went MHT to MCO last week with US Air with 1 connection (saved us $600 over SWA). It was not worth it. We usually travel in the winter and have never had issues with weather. This time we ended up sitting on the runway in Philadelphia for almost 3 hrs because of thunderstorms. Then, on the way home, our entire flight's luggage was "misplaced" onto another airplane.

My husband said he didn't care how much it cost, we would never do connections again!

Philadelphia is a story in itself. It wouldn't matter what airline it was you will have problems.

Not in a million years. The only time I will book a flight with one stop is if I don't have to change planes. Stopping with no change is my limit.

I would never do two stops - just not worth it.

I recently booked a flight from Flint (FNT) to Savannah (SAV) at Christmas on Delta. The price was $109 including taxes, and increadable deal, but you had to connect in Cinci and Hotlanta. I figured to save $150+ it would be worth it. The next day, I got an email from Delta saying those flights were cancelled. They rebooked me, and now I only have to connect in Detroit!!!

How much are you saving over a non-stop flight? Have to change planes or stop over in other cities I try to avoid at all costs. How much is 4.5hrs of your time worth to you? You could fly out of Logan direct to MCO. I recently had to go to SanAntonio from Boston for business and there are no non-stop flights so we had to change planes in Atlanta on both ends and it was horrible. You figure if your flight leaves at 6am your are going to need to be at the airport no later then 5:30am and then you are not scheduled to arrive until 1:30pm that is a long time to be in airports/planes. The differance it price per ticket would have to be a good $300 before I would consider it.

Hey, I just wish we could get a non-stop from Tulsa to Orlando. Everyone is acting like to purchase airfare with a connection is crazy, but some of us have to. :flower:

I would prefer a direct flight en route but I definaely don't mind two stops on the way home. More bumping opportunities, particularly in April.

I personally would not for a number of reasons:

1.) It's April vacation week, you're going to be on CROWDED planes, and if there are any significant weather delays (which are VERY possible in April in the Northeast) you are going to have a harder time getting rebooked if you miss one of your connections.

2.) I personally don't like to fly all that much, so a non-stop is always preferable to me.
