Would You Still Go Without a Code?

Yes we would still go. Yes we would still stay at the GF. But we might go from lagoon view to garden view. $60 a night difference - 15 nights. Please, please, please let a code come. I want to watch the 4th of July fireworks from my own balcony!

Just sending some "goodvibes" for you to get a CODE for your 4th of July stay!! :goodvibes :cool1: :flower: :sunny: I have watched the fireworks from the balconies of the CR, GF, and the Poly. There is truly little else on this Holiday, more spectacular & memorable. :lovestruc :wizard:

Thank you. On rethinking I would still keep my lagoon view for the first reservation (June 30-July 4) and MAYBE switch over to gv for the second reservation July 5-July 15. THanks for the "good vibes". I really do think the codes will be out sometime in the next few weeks.

Yes - we would still go without the codes. We never count on the discounts - just happy when they come out and can be used!

We are going in April- Code or No Code. :cool1:

We are staying at Pop, rather than the Contemporary though. :guilty:

We were suppossed to stay at the Contemporary, since it is our 15th Wedding anniversery. We already gave up the "alone" trip, to Jamaica, for one with the kids. We just can't get enough of Disney. :earsboy: :earsgirl:,and just couldn't go without our girls.

Anyway, I can't see paying rack, for any thing more than the value, but are still hoping :cloud9:

Of course. We are lucky enough now to get the CM discount, but when they are not available, I have an AP too. I've been an AP holder for 10 years and just only the past few years have there been these great discounts on rooms. When I got my first AP in 1995, we were lucky if we got 10% off our room and only during the slowest times, never spring, summer or fall (usually January). A few years ago we had to add a couple of nights to our stay because we could not get a flight out. So there was nothing available and we had to pay rack for 2 nights at the A/S Movies....yes, no CM discount, no AP discounts and there were never any public discounts then. I just hope we are not moving back to those days. I have to admit after our 5 trips last year, attendance is so high now, it is hard to find a slow time. Yes there are slow DAYS, but never a slow time per se. I got my CM discounted room when they were released last summer for 2005 and now there is only slim pickings left and was barely anything available for the 50th celebration weekd (early May). I consider myself lucky to get my first 2 weeks of May when I did. If I had to wait for the AP discounts right now, I'd probably be a nervous wreck. However, we called to try to modify our September ressie (with no luck) and was told that the AP rates should be released late February.

Yes we are still going codes or no codes. I have budgeted GF without a code and will be saving 400 bucks with the AAA discount. Of course we would change it if a code came out that was a better deal, like someone else said it just leaves more play money available.

I am usually a bit more frugal, but like my Dad told me, you know going into it that it is not the cheapest vacation, so why expect it to be?

This year will probably be our last at a Deluxe though, it's costing more with the girls getting older...but we can look forward to the Swan/Dolphin with the RN discount when I get out of school!

I thought about this one, and yes, I would still go. However, I would cut back. I just can't bring myself to pay rack rates. I would stay at the Swan or Dolphin and use the discount that I qualify for there. Or I would use the AAA at the Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom or even rent points. I would still go without a code, but it would not be my usual type of Disney vacation. ::yes::

We will still be going without a code, but will have to stay at a less expensive resort. Currently, we are staying at the Poly and AKL, but would have to look at staying at a moderate or All Stars, or even off-site. Plus, I would have to reduce my souvenir budget as well. Plus, without AP holder hotel rates, I would never again get the AP and that means we would reduce the number of trips we take. Instead of 2 within a year, we would likely end up with one every couple years. So, sorry, Disney would be losing not only some of our money for one trip, but all of our money for the second trip in a year.

We're not sure we'll be able to return in May without the codes. We are currently booked at an overflow rate for POP Century thru the SOG, but it's still more than we're used to paying for a value resort. With some unexpected expenses this week, it would really help us to get a code. We were really hoping to upgrade to a moderate (hopefully CSR) for our anniversary trip.

I called last night to inquire about any kind of discount, including AP rates, but with no luck. The CM didn't know when they might be out. We'll try to go with or without an AP code, but it will be a much more "budget" trip. :)

Just my 2 cents, but I would just book what I could afford right now. If/when codes come out, I would upgrade.

That is the problem. If everyone books now and hope for codes, Disney sees that their rooms are filling up and why should they offer the codes.

Definately stay on WDW property without a code!! We have two rooms booked at POP!! If codes come out, we may consider doing a Moderate for the last three nights of our stay. If not, we will be perfectly happy staying at POP for the eight nights!! WE WOULD NEVER STAY OFF PROPERTY!! :sad2:

I bet that a lot of you are like me....you have all of these scenarios planned out....you'll do this, if this happens, etc.

For example:

If packages get codes, we'll switch to a package and add on dining.

If there are only room-only codes, we'll not do a package--just 10 nights and bump up to a split stay at a deluxe; no dining, of course.

If there are no codes, we'll drop from 10 nights to 8 nights--no dining plus we'll do fewer sit-downs.

I would not pay, and have not (paid), rack rate for a WDW resort. Actually, I don't pay rack rate for any accomodation. I would either shorten the WDW stay (using a AAA or other applicable discount if available) and lengthen the stay at an offsite property or stay offsite completely if no discounted rates were available. :)

Edited to add: our accomodation preference is deluxe or home-away-from-home.

Hi everyone,

We always book what we can afford and what we think is a fair rate to pay for the given room- so we booked at POR for six nights w/o any discounts. If discounts come out we'll consider upgrading to a deluxe. I would NEVER pay rack rate at any of WDW's deluxe resorts. I always plan our vacation budget based on all of us having the best possible experience - before, during and after the trip. Which means - not stressing about codes before, not watching every penny during the trip and absolutely NO credit card bills or anything after the trip. We pay everything before and use only cash, traveler's cheques or our debit cards during the trip. My 2cents is that Disney knows that there is a segment of their population that can afford/is willing to pay rack rate prices and will make sure they get absolutely all of those customers/guests before offering discounts. So why stress over something you have absolutely no control over. If we couldn't afford to go to WDW and stay on-site w/o codes, we would make plans to stay off site, stay fewer days or wait until we could afford to do it the way we wanted to. JMHO

We are going with or without codes. Will we continue to go each year though? Probably not without codes. DH will only stay at AKL so going and staying somewhere else won't work for him. Maybe I'll go by myself then!! :cool1:

We are still going but will be staying at the Dolphin. They offer a great discound with the Teacher rate. I love the moderates but after paying $79 for a couple of years, I have a hard time paying $149. And no way would I pay $300 and something for a deluxe. I love vacationing more than one week a year to pay that much. I always look at that even if I could pay for the Deluxe that we could stay that much longer. And we always go for longer than a week. This year we are going for 15 days. We have stayed offsite, onsite and we always have a wonderful time! :earsboy:

I got AKL savannah view for $135 a night in may, Just call and flirt a bit. I think all CM can change the price a bit, it seems like everytime I called they would give me a different rate! Good luck! Missiowa

I posted earlier on this thread... but just thought about the Disney Cruise line too. We are taking our fifth Disney Cruise in June, and there are no discounts offered. In fact, the only perk we have ever received on the cruise line was about $200 on a 7~night, and some pins/towel :flower: in our cabin (Castaway club perk). This has not stopped us from making plans for future Disney cruises either! We are hopeless...CODES, or NO CODES~! Nothing gets in the way of Disney! :cloud9:

I definitely could not stay at a deluxe without a code.... I love Disney resorts but I'm not sure a single one is worth their rack rate.... we plan our trips around the discounts. If they went away altogether, I guess I'd deal, but the deluxe are a little steep for us at rack and I really feel at rack the moderates and values are overpriced too... I guess you can get used to anything, though.
