Would You Still Go Without a Code?

I have to have a discount of some type. It's rule #1 for us. ;)

We booked the My Way package with a discount, so we're happy. :cool1: However, if I didn't have that booked I would probably rent DVC points or stay at the Swan. I refuse to pay rack rate for any Disney hotel. I just can't stand the thought of it. ;)

When I called to make ressies, I asked about prices in the regular resorts for SoG people. The CM said there is a discount, but she didn't know what it was, that I would have to ask SoG. SoAG says that only comes into play when they are full, and they still have 20 rooms to go for our May visit. Does anyone know how much the mods are through SAG once they are filled? Right now SoG is less than POR, but I'd rather stay at POR. Thanks.

We currently are booked overflow thru SOG at the POP from 5/12-5/21 - it was $77/night. I called back yesterday to find out about a couple of mods - CBR for our dates was $94/night & CSR was $149 (which I think is just rack rate.) I also read somewhere on here earlier today that SOG gets a certain # of overflow rooms for various Disney Resorts at a discount, after those are gone - it's back up to rack rate. Not sure if this is true - but, it makes sense to me. So, I would imagine for May POR would be either $94 or $149. HTH! :)

Yes, I woud stay without a code. However, I would probably end up at a Value or Moderate resort instead of a Deluxe. Or perhaps the Swan or Dolphin.

Yes, I've budgeted what I can afford and booked accordingly (5 nights WL, 4 nights AKL savannah view, AAA rate). Any codes will just be gravy. We are huge Disney people, and this is our first trip to WDW (after yearly DL trips). I've been planning for and dreaming abut this trip for years, so we are going no matter what.

I think its a mistake many of us make to book early without the code, hoping and praying and budgeting (really) for a code. I think it drives demand up and lessons the coded discounts or even their availability. We book with a current offer. If I want to go when nothing else is available I use AAA but we were eligible for the 149/night at the Dolphin last year. We've used the Visa kids stay free and now AP codes as well. I won't book our Dec trip until something comes up for those nights, discount wise. I already have my DVC points rented for part of that trip. Jm2cents

I'm with TigerlovesPooh. I'd have to have some discount, especially if I'm staying at a deluxe. We booked the myw+dining with a AAA discount, but changed from WL to POFQ since the discount was only just under $200. Still, it was better than rack rate. :cool1: I'm just happy we're going.

Yes - I'd go. I always book at a resort I want to stay in and can afford. Sometimes that's a moderate, deluxe light, or regular deluxe. Whichever I choose I save the amount needed for rack rate. Then is an AP code comes out I try to apply it if it's available. I then have extra "fun" money to spend on vacation.

My coming trip AP codes were already out so I was able to book using them from the beginning.

I would go without a code and still stay onsite. I love the option of using Disney transportation.

We go every June/July and this year is no exception, other then we will stay at SOG, Value, or S/D with teacher discount. If we get a code then it will be either WL or AK.

My DH said we don't go without a code (he wants to go to the beach), but what does he know.

My DH and I went in January. I had AAA discount for our 4 nights at AKL and nothing for our 3 nights at the Poly. I still don't understand about codes that well, so I not only paid rack at the Poly, but once we were there, upgraded to a lagoon view room at rack. Having said that, it was worth it to us to see our DD's face when she watched the fireworks and electric parade. I would try not to stay where I can't get a code. However, I am going down for a flying trip in May and am hoping to get a code/discount at the CBR. But if I can't, I'll probably stay anyway because it's not that expensive.

We still go without a discount. We paid rack rate in May for the Poly. I was going to WDW for years without knowing discounts existed so going without one now is no different!

Definitely. Our visits to WDW are in no way contingent on a code/discount (although, when available & applicable, we enjoy/use these!). :goodvibes

Yes I would go without a code, but only for certain resorts, such as Coronado Springs or The Contemporary. I feel they are worth their rack rates.

We will be going regardless of whether or not they release codes. I have been mentally preparing myself that the AAA rate may well be as good as it gets for us this time, but believe me when I tell you....I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a better rate!!

Yes. Right now we have a AAA discount which is better than no discount. We even decided to move up to a moderate for the first time. After all, it is my birthday! :cake:
