I'd let her go if that is what she wants. I'm glad you are allowing her to apply. It will be good for her and she will never forget the experience.

I think this is such a great opportunity. I wish I could have done something like this at her age.

I just got an invitation for a European program for my 13 year old and am seriously considering it. It's for 8 weeks, and he's dying to go.

Most of my friends send their kids to sleepaway camp every summer for 7 weeks, and they are MUCH younger. They usually start them at 9 or 10 years old, and many at 6 years old, which I think is WAY to young.

I think it would be a great experience. I went to Spain at 13 with a school group and it was a wonderful trip that I will remember forever. We went to the Prado, the Picasso museum and got first hand learning about Goya, Degas and many other artists. To this day I have a real appreciation for art , architecture, and European culture which I believe began with that trip. If you can, send her.

I don't have kids, but I would let mine go at that age (the same age as me now lol.) I would love to go abroad next summer, but I decided to do an expensive summer program last summer (which I now sort of regret doing) and I am taking a trip with school this year that is expensive. We just don't have the money to send me anywhere, so we decided to host a student for the year instead. I hope she has a great experience if she does go!
