With resale prices in the $85.00 per point range for the onsite properties, how many people will consider selling?

Where do you get $85 per point? Most of the resales I'm seeing are in the $72-74 range.

To answer your question, no, I wouldn't consider selling at any price unless our family started to show a collective lack of interest in vacationing at WDW. To us, DVC isn't a stock to be sold when the price reaches a certain level--it's a discount (or upgrade if you prefer) to our vacation accommodations for up to 50 years.

I agree 100%.
In addition, I don't foresee us loosing interest in WDW. Actually, over the many years we have been vacationing there, interest in WDW has increased.

I also agree with tjkraz, Maistre Gracey and JimC I did not buy into DVC to use as a stock option. I bought into it because of our love for Disney and our Disney Vacations. I would not sell

I agree with the others. I didn't buy this as an investment. I bought it because we love Disney and had gotten to the point where we were trying to go every year. I don't see that changing so DVC is still great for us. I plan on using my DVC until I am no longer physically able and I hope that is many, many years away.:D

What??? Sell now when I'm staying for the price of dues?

Have you checked out rack rates lately?

Haven't you been reading about the decreasing quantity of discounts? The complaints about how hard it is to get a discount at the DVC resorts?

Did you forget about all the stress asssociated with the "Dialing Derby" (aka Dialing for Discounts)?

Could you go back to staying at a value or moderate after living the good life? :scratchin

Sell??
Me???
Now????

Maybe next year.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: :p LOL! :teeth:

Best wishes -

I think there are (were?) a couple of resales listed for $85 (other than SSR). IIRC, one was a stripped BCV contract (pending now). It's surprising to see the increase...but I suppose ROFR is affecting pricing a little. Then again, we're only assuming that the pending contract sold for $85 pp. My guess is that it actually went for quite a bit less.

I will admit that if I'd purchased OKW 10 or 12 years ago for ~$50 per point and I could get $85 per point now, I'd consider selling. While there are many Disney diehards...I'm sure there are just as many people who are ready to move on after ten years of Disney vacations.

I've only been an SSR owner for a year...no selling here! :D

I wouldnt sell for 100 pp.

We are enjoying our points too much to put a cash value on them.

Actually, we are considering selling ours, but haven't made a final decision.

So, my answer would be Yes, I would sell at $85/pp.

I brought mind in 1993 and no way....

If I sick of WDW for a year or so - I just rent the points....I still go to Orlando - just not to WDW!

I agreed with CarolMN - why sell when I can stay for just the cost of the annual fee....

Our average price per point is $53.89 and we wouldn't sell either. I see our OKW points much like I see our house. The fact that they are both appreciating quite nicely doesn't in itself cause me to consider selling just for the sake of selling. We need a house and we need vacation property so we would need to repurchase elsewhere if we sold either. The appreciation does cause me to consider upgrading to something bigger or maybe a better location. This would be nice to do with our house but, in the case of our OKW points I don't see how we could upgrade or improve on what we have. There is no other vacation property that meets OUR specific needs better that OKW and DVC. Until there is something better we'll keep what we have regardless of value, whether appreciating or depreciating.

I might sell for 85 per point. Even with just paying dues it seems like that will be more than it would cost to just pay for a vacation each year.

right now I can stay at OKW - 8 points a night 8*3.68 = $29.44 per night - for my 5 day stay $147.20
- now please tell me where I can find that deal on site at WDW without owning DVC?

now off site will not work - must be on-WDW property.

I stay in studios alot!

With 150 points at SSR I could get up to 12 consecutive nights in a studio. Dues are $570 per year, making the nightly cost under $50.

Please tell me where I can get a WDW Deluxe resort room for less than $50 per night, tax included. Last time I checked, most of the Rack Rates were pushing $300 per night plus 11% tax.

I wouldn't sell at any price....it took me over 10 years to talk DH into these points and I'm not letting go! Ha!

I've only begun to enjoy my points! My second trip on points is coming up in Feb 05 and I hope to squeeze in another next summer. I have add-on-itis, not point-liquidate-itis!!! The question is, therefore, would I add on at $85 per point??? Hmmmm...
