Hi all! I'm new around here, and am planning my first DW trip 1/4-1/11. I am traveling with 3 kids, the youngest being 6 months old at the time of the trip. My hubby will be away the first 3 days at a conference and the girls and I will be at DW. I LOVE sit down fancy restaurants, but I have an infant...they aren't the happiest of diners in my experience.

Basically, I am wondering if it is worth the money in my situation. My girls aren't HUGE eaters, but it sounds like for the $$$, its a great deal (plus it is paid up front so I don't have to have as much cash). Any thoughts? What places would you recommend with 3 children? I guess I need to make some reservations asap, huh???

Thanks in advance!

How old are your other two kids? I'm not sure what the rate are now for the dinning plan...but when we went last year it was only $10 per day per child under 9yrs...which is a GREAT deal no matter how you look at it (IMO). Even if you other two aren't big eaters...do you think they'd order more than $10 (if they're under 9) a day in food (each)...if so...and you do enjoy going out to sit down meal...I don't think you could go wrong.

I don't know how it works though with your husband comming later in the vacation...is he on the reservation the WHOLE time...Because if he is...you have to pay for the dinning plan for him even for the day's he wasn't there. Good thing though is his dinning credits would still be good once he came. Meaning even though he wasn't there for the first three days his dinning credits for those days could still be used (either by you when he was gone...or all after he came back) If that was the case....one way to use some of those up once he did join you would be to book some of the places that take two table service credits...like CRT for breakfast :thumbsup2

We got the dinning plan last year and LOVED it. Do I think we could have gone a more economical route....yes...but I don't think we would have experienced the great dinning like we did. We also wouldn't have ordered some of the things we did becasue of the overall cost. So IMO the dinning plan is GREAT...and more than pays for it self if you do many of the sit down meals at all.

Oh...something else that makes the DDP even better is the fact that an 18% (i think that's the right %) tip is included....

DD's are 5 and 11...the 11 year old counts as an adult, so there is my dilemma...why doesn't DW offer a "teen" price. I mean, $39 bucks a day for an 11 year old seems steep. And, my hubby will NOT have her say she is 9.

We are going to do it, mainly because we hope the January Codes save us $$ elsewhere. I like the idea of NOT having to carry a ton of cash all the time. I've had my purse stolen before, and then that would DEFINITELY cost us more than the DDP...

Now...I just need some ideas on some kid friendly places for TS...nice joints with kid appeal...

Hi kellera,

Will hubby be "on the reservation"? It makes a difference on where you would want to book. (7 TS credits).

In other words will you, DD 11 & Hubby all be on the food plan? Or is Hubby "dropping in" later in the week?

Regarding: Kid friendly...It's disney!! :yay:

With 2 girls I'd recommend for sure:

Askurhaus or Park Fare princess buffets.
Ohanna
Crystal Palace

& maybe also:

50's Prime Time
Coral Reef
Le Cellier
Chef's France & as scrapper jill mentioned
CRT

Let us know,

At the time we went last year our DD's were 6&12 (so not much diffrent that your dd's)...we went to Crystal Palace for breakfast (we tryed to get CRT but couldn't get our whole group in :guilty: ...and now that it's two credits I don't know we'd do that one anyways)..we did do CRT for dinner and everyone loved it (the girls loved having dinner in the castle) then we also did Dinner at WCC (Wilderness canyon cafe)...and we all LOVED that place. VERY kid friendly. They did stick horse rides and other games not to mention the whole ketchup ordeal :lmao: :lmao: This was our VERY VERY first time to WDW

Oh..we also had ADR at Concourse Steak house but because we had some MAJOR delays with our flight we missed it (even calling them and moving the reservation back....we ended up arriving to our resort 6 hours late)

Yes, I have hubby on the reservation. I figure, we can use his credits to go to a 2TS meal if we want, or just an extra sit down and pay OPP for the girls. Knowing me, I will not let 1 single point go to waste, LOL...

Thank you for the ideas, I am going to make some reservations today!!!
I can't wait ;o)

7 nights at 3 adults and one child is

about $1000. that's a lot of food and with hubby out of pocket for 3 days, you have 3 TS, 3 CS, and 3 snacks extra.

You and DD could have some good signature dining and you could use your daughter's for signature dining with hubby later in the week.

If you enjoy good dining, it sounds like a good deal to me.

You will have to balance the ability to have your stuff paid for ahead of time and not have to worry about it versus my baby's upset I just want to get to the resort and rest we'll eat at the food court days.
