How would you rather use your points? One long trip to the world, split in two trips, bank and go every other year, or transfer out/cruise?

I voted for one longer trip per year. That way should you have extra funds you can scoot down for another trip and pay cash. Depending on how much extra funds, that could range from the Poly to Pop.

I voted for two trips per year. We like to go in the summer and at Christmas. We can do it if we add weekend nights using cash and by not staying at the most expensive 1-bedroom on points.

We live within driving distance, so we said twice per year. We also don't like missing more than 1 week at work at a time. Otherwise, a 2 week trip would be glorious.

We'd love to stay in a 1 bedroom -- but we're not willing to only go to wdw every other year.

We voted twice per year, but we are local and usually take more than that per year.

I wish I could take one nice long trip each year. But I can generally take a full week and then several long weekends when I can find cheap airfare. It's worked out well for us this year - never paid more that $200 R/T (well $203 for the last time and I am the only traveler so it's ok.)

My plan is for 1 long trip per year. However, this is the first year that I actually implement it since between developer's points and banked points from my first year, I was able to do 2 trips (one short, one long) for each of my first 2 UYs.

Two trips per year, 8 to 12 days per trip, generally split between a studio and 1 bdrm.

Same here. We usually do about 4 trips a year. Most are just long weekends. As a Florida resident, I would never cruise on points. I'll wait until there's a FL Resident Rate that works for us and book that.

I voted for one long trip every year. DH votes for 2 smaller trips a year. Thus far we have been to WDW twice; September 2007 and May 2009 so once a year sounds maaaaahvelous. :cloud9:

We are not local (>10 hrs) and take two trips - Spring Break and Fall break each year.

Are we supposed to be voting on what WE would do as a family??
I thought we were supposed to be putting ourselves in the OP's shoes and saying what we would do if we were him.

If you want to know what we do as a family, that's different. We have enough points to take several long trips a year.

I voted for 2 trips per year. We like to take one trip of at least a week, maybe 10 days and then one long weekend (4 nights) per year. We used points to cruise our first year but the cruises have become even more point intensive than they were... Not enough value for me to only get 4 nights when it could be 10 nights!

We purchased with the idea of taking 2 trips or 2 weeks per year....

I voted for bank and go every other year. We are taking our 1st trip in Jan and then we are planning on banking the remainder of 2010, using 2011 and borrowing 2012 for a cruise in 2011.

Due to transatlantic airfare and wanting to visit other places in the world we plan on one trip every year, but would bank to do an extra big trip and miss a year if necessary.

Claire ;)

No category for my style, I do 2 long trips (12-15 days) every 3 years (less than 12 months apart), I would like to say I bank to do it but I always seam to be in borrowing mode.

Vote on what you as a family do.

We do three trips per year and usually tie one of them to a cruise that we do on cash, never on points. Points for cruises are WAY too expensive. I'd transfer points out to a fellow member to get cash to pay for the cruise if I needed to use points.

Agreed. There's a good reason why at the "Vacation As You Wish" show the presenters are told to act shocked at all the audience folk who've never used their points for cruises. Their one and only goal: sell more points! :rotfl:
