I wouldn't mind a topless beach if there was also a beach that wasn't topless. In other words, keep at least an area not topless for those that would be bothered by this. Otherwise, go for it.

Equal rights are all well and good but our culture isn't to that point yet and there's no reason to drag the more conservative into this so quickly. Give them a safe haven and also a chance to get used to the idea.

That said, I wouldn't go topless. I wouldn't be comfortable but if others are good for them.

I wouldn't mind it; I wear swim trunks to swim in at home, it'd be novel to not have to put on an uncomfortable "womens'" swimsuit when I go to the beach

not that big of a deal.

NY allows it - but I have rarely seen anyone take advantage.

the one time I can remember, was a young woman who had clearly paid for them and wasn't going to let an opportunity go by to show them off!!!:rotfl:

We have been to topless and nude beaches abroad with both our kids and alone. It was slighy awkward with my son who was about 11 at the time but no big deal. I would much prefer if those areas would be adults only but its not a huge deal to me. I voted maybe.

I wouldn't care. The U.S. is still uptight when it comes to these issues.

For the New York Dis'ers-do you mean it's legal for topless beach going or topless dancing next to the "naked"cowboy topless ?

as I understand it, women can go topless but can not do so to conduct business. You can bike or go to the beach topless, but you can not have a topless hot dog cart at the side of the street. does that make sense? Hope I answered your question.

It's not as sexy as you think. There are women who have been sunbathing topless for YEARS here in our lovely Southern California. Egads! :scared1:

So, what you are really trying to say is that these woman have chests and skin that look like a worn out, creased, Louis V. bag? Ha ha.

I would not mind. And, I don't see where it would be any less family friendly. IMHO

This. Not a big deal to me or my kids. They had never been to a topless beach until we moved to Europe when they were 10 and 12. Even at those ages they did not notice it. Literally. They were too busy playing in the water:lmao: Now they notice sometimes because I would rather not have not lines either but it is just a random thing to mention nothing anyone makes a big deal out of.

Bingo - Asbury literally defines the tired, declining element of the Atlantic seashore. Having topless women there will only result in dragging it down further (it will draw all sorts of wonderful new market segments....like biker gangs). And notice that the desireable sections of New Jersey shorefront real estate like Spring Lake aren't having to stoop to this.
Are you saying that only bad segments of society (of which presumably to you biker gangs are all a part) would go topless on a beach?:confused3 Or are you just commenting on that particular area and not being very clear?

Thanks, that answered it.

I'd be all for it. Anything that helps break this weird hang up we have in the US about nudity is fine by me, especially the nudity = sexuality misconception.

Actually, 100% of the population have them. Some are just bigger than others. And the bigger ones are not necessarily all female. :lmao:

Very true!

Men can get breast cancer. And it's far more deadly than women's, because no one knows this. And, having a husband who had to have a mammogram (this is before the pituitary tumor was discovered, 2+ years before, but it was obviously an early sign) because he had a weird lump, and my husband was HUMILIATED because the office was PINK, the place was absolutely I am woman hear me roar, and they didn't even have forms for MEN...he did the thing, he was more humiliated, he never went back. If it had been THAT, he would not have had the diagnosis, because they humiliated him, even though a guy who has that is far more likely to die.

So if men can get breast cancer, then men, even flat-chested ones, have breasts.

by the way, whats an "organic decision?"

is that like a regular decision, just without pesticides?:lmao:

Usually that refers to something that just starts to happen naturally. it's not from a conscious decision to change something, it's not based on a rally...it's just individual people starting to do something bit by bit, because it feels right.

I firmly believe that anywhere a man can go topless, a woman should be allowed to also. The hyper sexualization in North America is silly. What makes my nipples so shocking anyway? And if they are shocking or offensive, then why aren't a mans? Or is it the extra breast tissue that is the big deal? Because plenty of men have that, too. I honestly don't see what the big deal is or why this is even an issue. :confused3

Now, along with equal rights to go topless, I also think that unless you're at a beach, everyone should keep their shirts on. I hate seeing topless, sweaty men walking down the street and can't say I'd like it any better if there were breasts involved. Have some class, and keep your clothes on!

Although I support topless/nude beaches, I do agree with you. I don't care how good a man's chest looks, if we're in public but NOT at a beach or pool, keep your darn shirt on!

I would take my son to a topless beach, definitely. No matter how old. And I'd trust any of my brothers to go without drooling all over the place. Why? Because all those boys were nursed until at least 2 (each of my brothers until 2, my son a few years longer b/c he takes after me and, I guess, my half sister who also nursed for ages), and breasts are just a food source. NONE of the brothers have ever dated a woman with a big chest; they just do not seem to care about them at all. It's pretty cool actually.

Not at all. But then again I´m European and am used to topless sunbathing at the beach and elsewhere. My neighbor in Denmark used to sit out on the sidewalk in front of her house and water the flowers with no top on ;)

I'm sure there are a lot of parents who would prefer their children to not see that. Different religious beliefs for whatever if may be, I'm just saying that there will probably be a drop in the number of families going to that beach.

Lol - families at Asbury Park! :rotfl2: For decades, it has been a run-down, scary area. The town next to it, Long Branch, has been improving (although there is project housing one block in from the beach). A large gay community has been established in Asbury Park, and it's starting slowly to get better, but I can't see it ever becoming a family beach area.

I have lived in Europe for a bit and went to public pools and didn't have any problems with women being topless. As previous comments about anyone and everyone going topless, it's very True! It's interesting that Europe doesn't seem to have the body issues we do here in the US. Perhaps having anyone (not just "perfect" airbrushed bodies) walk topless, people have less hang-ups about the body.:cutie:

Sandy Hook (Gunnison's Beach) has been a nude/topless beach for quite a while. It's a bit more secluded than Asbury....located on one of the more remote beachfronts of the Gateway National Park.

I voted maybe.

Personally, I wouldn't go topless at my local beach. Nor would I want my (future) children (or husband!) to play at that beach. Therefore, we simply wouldn't go to that beach.

That being said: Do your thing! If you want to go to the beach topless, that's fine with me! I have no problem with it.. it's just not for us. :)

We went on a Disney Cruise, and one of the locations we stopped (I can't remember which location, somewhere in the Caribbean), one of the excursions we signed-up for was a Beach excursion. They mentioned to us, on the bus ride to the beach, that there was a nudist resort just down the beach a ways from where we would be, and that we might see nude people walking on the beach.

And sure enough we did (I think my dd was 18 at the time). Believe me, there are some people who should just not be nude or even partially nude in public. :rotfl: Not everyone who is nude, is buff, to go along with it.

I don't care if other people are allowed to go topless on a beach, but I don't think I could. I think I'm too self-conscious.

Very true!

....Yes forest, I know..[/LT. Dan]:lmao:

yeah, it was a humorous reference to a word that has been transposed in its meaning. :rolleyes1

mostly rhetorical.

I wouldn't care as long as it's not advertised as a family beach and it's clearly posted that people can go topless.
