Would you let the pizza delivery guy use your washroom?

I had my carpets cleaned a couple months ago. As they were leaving one of the guys asked to use our bathroom. I let him, but I wasn't thrilled with that either. I guess I am the witch! ;) Anyway, I really find it weird that he asked.........

In your situation the men were already in your house, performing a service for you that probably took a few hours. You would actually prefer that he walk outside, and pee in a bush? :confused3

I've had carpet cleaners before, and don't think a thing of it when they ask to use the restroom. A job that requires several hours usually requires at least one potty break.

"I can't just pee in the bushes--that's where I dumped the REAL pizza guy after I knocked him out and wrapped him in duct tape."

I'm with PHORSENUF--If it is someone I have seen on a regular basis..Sure have at it OR if it is someone in my home doing work(heck they've already been in the house, why not) as for someone I'm unfamiliar with-I'd have to say no UNLESS DH is home--I'm pretty sure the 2 of us could tag team some nut job trying to pull something

Being military we get sent to different duty stations---One time in Oklahoma I had ordered a pizza when DH wasn't home and the guy who brought it asked if he could use the bathroom and I told him NO--Well he got that "HUH" look so I told him---"I have this vag inal fungul disease and everyone has to take medication for it because we all use the same toilet"

He came back a couple of times after that to deliver food but never again asked to use my bathroom!

I will be odd man out. I would have said sure! I am not that paranoid.

Sure, the parlor might be close, but he probably has 3 other orders in the car before he can get going back to the parlor.

I've been known to let people in to use my phone or use the bathroom. I even leave my doors open and unlocked all year round so If I'm busy and anyone stops by I can just yell "come in".If its friends or family they just walk right in and make themselves at home. :rolleyes1

I would have handed the guy a dixie cup, a ziploc baggie, and a KFC moist towelette that way both "bases" would be covered.

I am a lock freak. When I lived at home with my parents our backdoor was unlocked and a man was in our kitchen when I went to eat breakfast. My parents were at church and I was a little behind so I was alone in our house and my stupid brother didn't lock the back door. I screamed and he ran like the wind bullseye and since that day I am the OCD of locked doors.

Just this past week I actually *invited* Pizza Dude (DH was home at the time) into my house. Thing is, you can case the place all you want, but you must be buzzed in through a high gate and then there's more security after you get through there. Not too worried about his returning and trying to break in. Besides, he was way too entertained by the huge Christmas tree standing in the living room in August! :lmao:

And the OP...she did the right thing for her set of circumstances. :teeth:

No!!! No!!! You did the right thing.

I would never be put in that position though, because I NEVER order anything when DH isn't home. We only order food for delivery when he is home.

Thats what I was thinking as well. :rotfl2:

I wouldn't have let him in either. :thumbsup2

I did let the exterminator use the bathroom, and it was really awkward because he was in there for what seemed like an eternity. :rolleyes1

I, being paranoid, then (after he left, of course) scrub-a-dub-dubbed the whole bathroom because my OCD wouldn't leave me alone!!!! Germs..........AHHHHHHHH!!!! I couldn't help it. :confused3

I think you did the right thing. Even if he seemed very nice, just remember so did Ted Bundy! :sad2:

Another odd man out here, I would have had no problem letting a delivery person use the bathroom as long as my intuition was not screaming 'red flags'.

I think the OP did the right thing in her circumstance because she felt uncomfortable with it. I believe in going with your gut.
He didn't want to use the restroom, he wanted to do harm!
While I can understand people not being comfortable allowing a delivery person in to use the restroom, I don't think it is fair to say with certainty that this particular person meant harm. He may have felt sick and thought the OP and her home looked like a 'safe' place to ask. He may have been an axe murderer, I have no idea. I just don't think it is fair to say that the mere idea of a person asking automatically means he had bad intentions.

Ok, I am a pizza delivery person, and considering we have a limited delivery area...I would have to say someone asking to use your bathroom is out of the ordinary.

I would never even consider asking a customer to use their bathroom. I will be back to the store within 10 minutes, MAYBE 15-20 minutes if I have another delivery with me. No delivery driver should leave the store knowing they may be "in trouble" out on the road if they don't make a pit stop before they leave.

Now, when I delivered mail, and I was on the road for 3.5 hours, yes, I had some customers I got to know and they would let me use their bathroom.

But pizza delivery? When the driver is in and out of the store? NO WAY!

Not in a million years would I let him in.....how far can the pizza parlor be? A mile at most? And he can't wait? He didn't want to use the restroom, he wanted to do harm! You did the absolute right thing! Bravo!
This is a completely unfair assumption (and very paranoid).

However, I think that if the OP was uncomfortable about it, she did the right thing.

No I would not have let him. I gotta believe since they drive all over, they know where most of the public restrooms in the area are. However, I would have no problem letting the carpet cleaner or exterminator or plumber or electrician etc use the bathroom. They are already in the house- what difference does it make if they use the bathroom?

You played it safe. As short as their delivery run is on average he could wait till he got back. Of course their are the exceptions if he is having a problem. Either way I agree with you. We let our german shepherd do the decision making for us when someone knocks on our door. Nobody would ask us to come in like that.

We have the same security system in the form of an 8 year old Weimaraner. She's really sweet, but sounds and looks really mean when someone comes to the door. Now if they just walked in they'd probably make out okay... but ring or knock and they are fair game!

I'd say no I'm sorry we have been running over to our neighbors house to use their facilities, our plumbing is being repaired. A little white lie!

I let the pool guy use my washroom before I had thought up this "white lie" and without going into detail, what a mess to clean plunger and all...Never Again! Sorry, there's deep woods down the end of the road.

I live on 10 acres alone with my two kids so I would absolutely not let him inside. I usually go out the back door when the pizza guy comes and do the whole transaction outside. People have knocked on our door with questions and I tell them I'm sorry but go away I won't open the door. Plus I'm a probation officer, don't need my own surprsise home visit.

I would absolutly not allow him to come into my house and I would kindly direct him to the local gas station. He should have never asked you!!!! That's just wrong.

If he was doing the pee-pee dance I probably would have let him

That's  the pee pee dance? I thought it was something else! :rotfl2:

I would be surprised if a pizza delivery person asked to used the restroom. I suppose if it was a regular and I felt that I knew them and it was an emergency (and I was not home alone), I would say yes, but I can't imagine that being the case. Totally different case for a worker in my home. They are already in my home and could have done something to me if they had of wanted to, so they can use it without even asking.
