Would you let teens eat alone?

Am I the ONLY person who thinks this is REALLY REALLY creepy?

A few years ago I was at Alfredo's with some friends who had two teenage girls, 16 and 14. The girls absolutely fell in love with our young Italian waiter. Even if they go ape over the waiter, what can happen during a meal in a public place. Let them loose!

I must admit that our waiter was one of my fave parts of the meal last week ;)

I agree - let them go. That will show them that if you give them a little rope and they are responsible enough to handle it and there are no problems that they can do it again in the future. Have fun!!

I agree, this is really weird . . . several of the posts on the DIS recently have turned into arguments and negative-spirited rants, so I'm glad to see one like this! :)

On our last trip, my 11 year old DD (very responsible and smart) did not want to eat food from the ABC Commisary in MGM. She loves the turkey legs and knows exactly where to get them, since she studied the map and had been before. I had absolutely no problem giving her $10, sending her on her way and telling her to meet us at the Commisary.

I am more comfortable letting my kids out of my sight for a few minutes at WDW than anywhere else. Let them go and enjoy!

Thanks for all of the positive reinforcement everyone :goodvibes

I'm glad to see this post could bring harmony among us disers

After reading many other threads that include nasty interchanges among a few, it is SO refreshing to read one in which everyone has the same opinion!!! :cool1:

We have two teenage girls and have absolutely no qualms about them exploring the parks or eating alone. They are very familiar with each park, transportation, etc. and always carry cell phones. They are also "restaurant veterans" and know all about tips, etc.

They love the independence - I know yours will too!!! That being said, I am also very proud to say that they love the time we spend as a family, going on the rides and experiencing the Disney magic together!!!

Have a great trip!!!

We'll be at WDW in August, too. The kids in our party will be 12G, 13G, 14B, 16G. Letting them eat alone was part of the appeal of the DDP for us. I'm sure your girls won't have any problems at all.

Absolutely, let them go. This is one of the nicest parts of the DDP! You can say "you may spend 1 TS each and no extras"....or in my case, I allowed one CS and a time limit, and let them have a little independent fun.

Mine was 15 and a WDW veteran. You know your daughter. If you'd trust her at nome, you can trust her at WDW. Besides, mine knew from age 4 that if you get lost of have a problem, you talk to the nearest person wearing a WDW badge.
