Would you leave your child overnight to get a tattoo?

I never said i called on them that was your assumption. You wanna hate me go ahead but don't say i said something I didn't.

I have filed several 51As because I am a mandated reporter. If I even hear a kid in the grocery store get yelled at I have to report but I know the system enough to know what gets done and what doesn't.

No one here will agree with me because its taboo but bottom line is that it was irresponsible. I needed to vent. Done and over. Carry on.

Yea... no. A mandatory reporter does NOT have to report a child being yelled at in a grocery store. That is NOT what mandatory reporting is about. No wonder CPS is over worked!

You seem to have an unhealthy obsession.

oh i'm sorry did you think i meant i called on them? No i've made reports on neighbors and such. Not them. The hospital did, not me.
Oh cool...so you make it a habit of filing false reports with CPS then. They must just love it when they get a call from you.

Seriously?
You've made numerous reports to CPS on neighbors and such?

Wow - you are just surrounded by unworthy parents, aren't ya? And sadly, CPS never finds any validity in your claims to take action. That is a puzzler. :sad2:

I've never even made one report. Much less several.

But then again, I'm one of those who left my kid with an ear infection with a babysitter and a bottle of the pink antibiotic. I obviously have really low parenting standards.
Me too. My DS has, get this...allergies. It manifests in a constant cough, runny nose and ear infections for months!

I have to know OP...how old are your many children?

You really don't understand CPS.

I wouldnt leave my child who had more than an ear infection. It wasn't JUST an ear infection.
On the contrary. It sound like you do not really understand CPS. My best friend is an investigator with CPS. I have discussed with her and she said they probably all have a field day when your name comes up on the report. Kind of like the boy who called wolf.

If you are a mandated reporter then you need some serious retraining as a parent yelling at a child in the grocery store is called discipline not abuse. Since you are a perfect parent you should know that.

Out of curiosity, what is it that you do that makes you a mandatory reporter?

OP, you really need to stop obsessing about other people and make a more interesting life for yourself. Get a hobby, work more, go back to school, whatever you need to do to stop your unproductive obsessing about family members.

Yes. If there is swearing and threats of violence you ARE supposed to report it. Obviously it's hard if you don't know who the people are but you should call the police if you believe the child is in danger. If a child tell you they were drinking and they are underage you are supposed to report it.

So you went and asked your CPS friend.
I feel sorry for your kids if you think yelling equals discipline.

Right because to CPS as long as they are feed and clothed and not bruised they can't be bothered. There are too many other kids really suffering to care about kids who are only mildly being affected.

You are wrong. CPS will not remove children whose parents do not live up to your own long list of standards that you have created. I have raised my eyebrows at the way some folks parented their children but I never reported those parents. Different is not wrong. It is simply different. If an agency was empowered to remove kids from homes whenever the case worker disagreed with the parenting method I imagine just about most kids would be removed at least once. Just go to WDW and see a parent meltdown after a series of kid temper tantrums.................CPS would need to be stationed right outside of those Mickey gates!

You are way too fixated on the inlaws. It's not healthy.

I agree. My DSon IL sister's family is one of the worst parents I know. DD discussed her with the pediatrician and he told her that she needed to stay out of the family business and let her DH handle anything that he felt needed to be handled. He would ensure that if there was neglect he would handle it properly. I told her the same thing. She could not change the boys circumstances and her interference would only make it worse. The Dr intervened when the time was appropriate. That situation makes this one look like a bed of roses. You need to get off of FB so you do not know things that do not concern you. You need to avoid comparing your parenting to your Sis IL. If you and I compared notes I bet I might find you sadly lacking but that is not my business any more than your IL's are your business. Raise your child and let your IL's raise their child. Quite frankly your fixation reminds me of a stalker.

Seriously? Yelling requires a report??????????? I believe you need to revisit that because if your reports were valid there would be a follow-up. I must say I am surprised that I managed to get through raising three kids to adulthood and caring for one DGD and two little whirling dervishes because I admit to yelling on occasion. I should have been imprisoned!

Oh, so now there were threats of violence. Your stories are fantastic.

Shoveling.... backpedaling.... these threads turn out to be so interesting to read for all the wrong reasons.

Once again lack of reading comprehension. I gave examples. Even if a child is hit and scratched on the face a child will not be taken out of their family home

Even if a child is pushed down stairs they will not be taken from their home. You basically have to do a TON of damage for that to happen.

Soccermom if you don't like it why are you here commenting?

So you went and asked your CPS friend.
I feel sorry for your kids if you think yelling equals discipline.

Oh no...I didn't ask her. I was on the phone and we discussed this comical thread.

No need to feel sorry for my kids. They are two of the most loving and well adjusted kids you will ever meet. Oh, and my oldest in a straight A student, competitive swimmer and plays travel soccer. She is also an Altar Server and in the church choir. For the life of me, I can't figure out why I have such amazing children since I don't follow your superior parenting guidelines. :rolleyes1

Why do your stories keep changing when you are challenged? Since when does "yelling" mean the same thing as "threats of violence"? Those have very different definitions and the real term should be used the first time.

I still stand by my statement... yelling at a child is not a situation that falls under mandatory reporting. THAT is what you stated in the post I responded to.

ooo nice humble brag! :rolleyes:Please tell me where I said I had superior parenting guidelines. I have common care for my child which is more than I can say for SIl who thinks once you have them you pawn them off on other people to take care of.

But don't you work? I mean, you must have some sort of job if you are a mandated reporter. Does your daughter go to work with you? ..... since you'd never pawn her off on somebody else to take care of her and all that.

I was referring to your comments about reporting a child in the grocery store.

I didn't realize I had to like you or your posts to comment.

Story doesn't change just seems that i have to spell EVERYTHING out to the most common sense detail here. Could be people just want to make me seem mean. Could be that people really are that, I don't know. Whatever the case may be it's clear that no pone hear understands how much it sucks to have to stand by and watch a kid suffer and now that there is nothing you can do about. That this little girl is sick all the time and no one really seems to care. That she too will more than likely end up a high school drop out, pregnant and unable to support herself because it's a cycle of SIL family.

I'm not sure about this...But my neighbor is a foster mother and she said that she is a mandated reporter and she is a stay at home mom.

But, the OP, in all of the parenting threads I have seen her post on has never ONCE mentioned having foster kids.

Did you hurt yourself taking that leap?
