Would you go in Oct or early Dec?

We are just starting to plan our next trip and can't decide between mid Oct and late Nov, early Dec. We have been each time just once.

Oct - warm enough for water parks, Food and wine festival, MNSSHP ( although once may be enough) and HHN.

Or, Dec with low crowds but likely too cool for water park, Candlelight Processional and Osborne lights.

What would you guys do?

October for us for sure! :thumbsup2

i think that depends on a few things.. 1. do you ever plan on going again or is this a once a in a life time trip - if it is i'd do December for sure- we've been there in december and it was amzing w/ all of the x-mas decorations up however it was to chilly to enjoy any of the pool or water activities - the kids swam but they were cold....

2. which is more of a holiday for you and your family x-mas or halloween?
3. like i mentioned in #1 do you want to swim or are you ok w/ light jackets in the morning/ afternoon?

i'd say anytime you go its a blast but we've always gone in december and loved it b/c of the amazing christmas decorations.... this year we are going to go in october for more of the swimming weather - although we will miss the x-mas decorations..... ( the castle is absolutly AMAZING when its lit for x-mas )
also the first december they tape the christmas parade- which usually makes the main st in the magic kingdom a zoo- but also cool to see all of the floats go by - and since everyone is watching the parade taping the ride lines were almost non- existent!

I would choose Oct...but I would definitely avoid closer to Halloween. I would love to go like..second week of October.

I vote for early December - cooler weather, holiday decorations are up.

I think both times are great options, and you will have a blast no matter what. I would make my choice based on holliday selection...Halloween or Christmas.

I agree with previous poster, both times are great, but I wouldn't say either is particularly low crowds anymore. As for swimming weather, it is unlikely but possible for it to be too cool for swimming in October as well, we've been there once that was that way. We've also been in December when the weather was upper 80's to 90's all week, and we absolutely swam every day that trip (have also been in the same week when HIGHS of 40's and lows in the teens definitely precluded any swimming!). Which is to say, weather is Florida is kinda a guessing game just like other places. The lows aren't as low as most, but they still have days and sometimes weeks of colder weather any time between October-March. Both times are really neat to see with the holiday decorations for their prospective seasons, too. If I had to choose, for me October edges out December, though. Love Food and Wine Festival, love the Halloween decorations.

We have been both times. Oct weather could be a little better but we have been at pool both times. The very merry Christmas party at the magic kingdom is great. It usually starts in November. But so is the not so scary Halloween party which runs through October. Either one you pay for a ticket that allows you into park around 5 I think and it stays open until 12 or 1 am. After 6 everyone who doesn't have the special wristband you get has to leave and the rides have very short lines. Plus there are cookies and specially dressed characters. It is really fun. We don't use a park ticket thst day. Just go the magic kingdom for the party at nite. The special parties aren't every night but you can go online to get the schedule so you can plan ahead. I always buy our tickets online ahead of time.

We did first week of Oct last year and it was great. Decent weather and fairly low crowds. Our longest wait times were AK Safari (1 hr) and HS Toy Story Mania (1hr 15ish). Other than we were able to walk right onto rides or wait around 20 minutes.

If you love the Christmas season, you cannot beat early December. The only down side is the cooler evenings.

If you are not into Christmas and prefer pools then October would be better, but the crowds will be much worse.

No matter which you choose, you must sacrifice one thing for another. Just decide which is more important to you and your family.

October is our absolute favorite time to go (or late Sept) but we went once in December to experience the decorations. I think everyone should experience them once! When we went in December however, we had record breaking lows - temps in the 40's and we froze to death! It was still great though.
All that said, if I was just planning one trip and not planning to go back for a while, I think I'd choose October.

Thanks for all the replies. It have been once during each time but I am really leaning towards Mid Oct, after Columbus Day weekend. I really loved the Food and Wine festival and the entertainment that went along with it. I also enjoy the water parks, especially Typhoon lagoon. This will likely be my last time at WDW, though. :(. Since this is probably the last time, I. May have to try a different resort from POR.
