Would you go back?

I am wondering if it had to do with prices going up with the opening. The tickets for the days before were cheaper. I have read that for Japanese people who don’t benefit from the exchange rate prices are still pretty expensive.

My friends don't want to wake up early to get Frozen passes. Additionally, for serious Disney fans, the entry controls are a big deterrent. They're buying a ticket for just one ride. Possibly 2 if they're lucky enough to catch a second Standby Pass.

When Soaring opened, you could show up late and just wait in line for 4 hours (5-6 hrs on opening day). If you showed up early, you could also get a fastpass. In one day, it was possible to go on it several times for just the price of one ticket or for no additional cost if you had an annual pass.

I personally only went to DisneySea for 3 previews and on opening day with a vacation package. If I still had an annual pass, I would have gone to at least 3 more Sneak Previews. For my friends who already went on all the rides during Previews, it doesn't make sense to buy a ticket for just one ride that they've already riden before while last week, a lot of people were going on the rides for the first time.

Additionally, last week, people wanted to get popular merchandise. Once people realized the popular items were sold out last Friday, there's less incentive to go into the park. On Tues-Thurs, your ticket could have been "free" if you secured an Emporio Standby Pass because you could buy the 3 popular plushes and resell them.

Thanks for adding that perspective.

That could definitely have played a role in it. There were also a lot of school groups all 3 days we were in the parks. Those groups probably all planned their trips before the opening/price increase. And then there were probably also a lot of people just trying to visit before the opening thinking it wouldn't be as crowded as after.
