Would you cancel a WDW vacation if you could not get the ADR's you wanted?

I got this idea from Jasminetigger post about how she cancelled her vacation to WDW because she could not get the ADR's she wanted. So I was wondering if you have a vacation to WDW planned (already got your plane tickets & hotel reservations at a WDW Resort) & then you found out that you could not get any of the ADR's you wanted, would you cancel your WDW vacation because of that? Personally my family & I would not cancel a WDW vacation for that reason because we make very few ADR's & if we were told we could not get one it would not be the end of the world. To use it's more important being there, going to the parks, Downtown Disney & having fun. So I am asking all of you is if you could not get any ADR's you wanted for your up comming vacations to WDW would you cancel the whole trip because of that?

If I dont get the ADRs I want, I will not dump the vacation, but maybe the onsite room (asmo) unless the discounted rates for FL residents were comparable to the best I could find w/in 2 miles or so. I have stayed on I92 MANY times, and though they were not *dream hotels* they suited my needs. I imagine I could find a room for $50 a night, pos. even with a free buffet breakfast, line I had the last time on the I4 at a HoJos when we went to USF/ SW for 6 days

I wouldn't but for different reasons than you.

We do make many ARs but there are so many good restaurants at WDW that if I couldn't get one I wanted, I'd go to another. There are still quite a few we haven't tried despite many trips.

But I think Jasminetiggers really had her heart set on a couple of ARs to celebrate. Everyone's situation differs. I am so glad it worked out for her!

We wouldn't cancel because of that. Our vacations are about each other. Yeah the dining is a really nice part of it, but this is our only time exclusively for one another...so ADRs or not, we're going to enjoy every bit of it.

No, I wouldn't cancel. Of all the places to eat, I'm sure I could find some place at some time. I'm flexible. If I couldn't get Boma, Flying Fish or Spoodles, for example, I would just keep trying.

No, I'd definitely still go. I'd adjust my dining plans accordingly and maybe try some new places that did have some availability.

No way we cancel. There are always good alternatives, and while Disney dining can be fun, we've had great vacations sans Disney restaurants.

I'd say a maybe. If I coudn't get any ADRs at any place I wanted to eat, none at all, then yep I might cancel. I can't picture a trip to WDW just eating at counter service restaurants. But for me I'd instead probably change dates to a less crowded time instead of totally cancelling.

If I was in Jasminetigger's position going down to WDW to celebrate a special occasion for a short trip and couldn't get at least one special dinner to celebrate then yep I'd cancel.

Heck no!!!! There's soooooooooooooooooooooo much more to Disney than FOOD!

I think it's rediculous how some people might cancel an entire vacation based purely on not being able to get into certain restaurants. Will not getting to eat at Le Cellier or Crystal Palace or whatever truly break your vacation??? There's so much more to life than food.

Probably not, but I would investigate why the restaurants were so crowded. If they projected that the parks would be packed I might consider postponing my vacation to a less crowded time.

Heck no. I would eat granola bars and peanut butter sandwiches for a week if it came down to it. But I am (obviously) not a big foodie. Everyone's priorities are different.

Not really knowing the situation of the mentioned poster but..

For me, nope, try new restaurants.

In her case, i'm deciphering it as she's probably a party of two trying places like Le Cellier. If that's the case, this is the only time i'll suggest this, lie and say you're a party of 3. There will be tables.

Nope, not I. I would keep trying to get the ADR's I wanted since so many cancel or try some new places. I would be a little upset at first though but after I got over myself I would still go. I am glad it all worked out for their trip though. It was nice for the help that was given.

I wouldn't, personally. To me, it's just food and I don't go to WDW primarily to eat at their restaurants. I do realize that others may place a higher value on the taming of a rumbling stomach than I do, so I would perfectly understand if someone else felt their vacation would suffer if unable to dine at certain restaurants. And if that were the case, cancelling would make sense for them.

i also agree with everyone else on this thread. I would not cancel over dinning reservations. I would eat whatever I could find or other restaurants. Like others have said try something new.I would rather go and have a good time with my son. That is what is important not food.

nope, but then I am not in the fortunate position of being able to head to WDW for a long weekend either ...... IF I did then maybe I'd see it differently, but as I can't, then no way...... if I cannot get what I really would have liked then I can CS it, it is no big deal to me ......

We've been to WDW so many times that dining is now the #1 most important part of the trip. If we couldn't get any of the places we wanted, I wouldn't think twice about cancelling. There would probably be a reason I could get some of the others, but not what I wanted. If a restaurant isn't as popular, there's usually a good reason for that. We can drive to WDW in an hour. If that weren't the case & we were going to lose money on airfare, the decision would be more difficult. However, if I knew for certain that I would be spending the entire week eating CS or lower quality TS, I'd take the loss & cancel. Cancelling a WDW vacation doesn't mean we would have to stay home. There's other vacation destinations out there. For my family, we'll go with the good food.
