Would you cancel a WDW vacation if you could not get the ADR's you wanted?

I'm from New Orleans, which has some of the best restaurants in the country. I'm not going to Disney for the food. As good as some of their restaurants are, they just don't compare!!

I agree that NOLA has some fabulous restaurants. That's precisely the reason it's one of our fav. cities to visit. :teeth: We have some great restaurants around here also. We're just not willing to spend that much money on a meal at home. Vacation is the time that we splurge & eat anything we want regardless of the cost. If we did that at home, we'd have to go over to WDW & collect the cardboard boxes out of the parking lot that people were staying in just so they could go to WDW. We'd be hanging a sign on the box that said, "Welcome to our new home." :rotfl2:

I doubt that I would cancel just because of ADRs. In fact, the trip I took with my college roommate (we were both celebrating a milestone birthday I'd rather not talk about!) had NO ADRs at all. She hadn't been to WDW since the early 90's, and is more of a "let's see what I feel like eating" person. Did we have to go to Plan B (or even Plan C) sometimes? Yes. But because of the need to be flexible and go with the flow, we also tried some places I'd never considered before (Olivia's, Teppanyaki, etc) that are now new favorites.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I'd just make what planned ADR's I could, go online to see other places I may like and then keep trying... If not, I'd take what is available for TS and try it out.

Hi all. Jasminetigger here. Just wanted to explain something to set the record straight so I don't seem so selfish in everyone's eyes. This was a spur of the moment idea. Two days without the kids at WDW for our anniversary. I think when everyone is saying vacation it takes on a little different meaning. On our vacations to WDW we go for longer periods of time, 8-10 days, so I can be more flexible with my ADR's. But we only had two nights, for two dinners. Until Kelly helped me, I could not get anything. I, of course, tried my favorites at first. But then I also tried several, several different others, and still could not get anything. The point of this whole weekend was for the restaurants, so not getting something I knew we would enjoy, did make a difference. But now because of the kindness of Kelly, things are back on and I am happy again. :) But if things had not worked out for WDW, we would have enjoyed a nice restaurant here in town and have been just as happy. :)

Haven't read the rest of the thread yet, but..............

Oh, my goodness, JasmineTigger..........even if you would've cancelled your trip, I wouldn't have thought you were selfish!! I think maybe you might have been giving up too easily.....to say the worst!

The reason I say that is, there are many people (not naming names) who make multiple ADR's without any intention of using them all.......they just haven't cancelled the ones they don't want yet (there, is that putting it kindly enough :p ). So I would think that eventually you would get what you were looking for.

And for those that don't think making all those extra ADR's really don't affect anyone.............here is an example. Someone almost cancelled (or actually did cancel then rebooked) a trip because they couldn't get the ADR's. :sad2:

Yes, I would cancel my room reservation and forgo the entire trip.

Having said that, let me explain why.

When I plan a trip to Walt Disney World, I make my room reservation very early, and then make table service reservations at the very beginning of the 180-day period, having determined which parks I wish to visit on which days.

I can't imagine not being able to make meal reservations 180 days ahead of time.

But, in the unimaginable event that the table service places were all booked up that far in advance, I would KNOW that the parks would likely be packed during my planned stay, so I would cancel the trip.

Enjoy.

Um, :confused3 it's just food. Why would I trade pixie dust and all CS for no pixie dust? And keep in mind folks, I am pooh sized! I love good food. I like TS dining, but it's not a deal breaker. Maggie

I think you have a very good point, I would do the same. :thumbsup2
