Would you buy a refurbished lens?

I was looking at different lenses on Amazon and saw that some refurbished ones are offered at lower prices. Any thoughts on refurbished lenses?

I would think that refurbished lenses would be a safe bet. I've bought used lenses before and I've been very happy with the quality and price.

Yes I would, but only if the savings were substantial.

I saved $200 on my refurbed 70-200mm VR. Adorama and B&H had been out of stock for months when a small shipment of refurbs came in so I jumped on it. I've had no problems at all. It only came with a 90 day warranty so I spent $50 to buy an extended one just in case.

I've bought, new, used and refurbished lenses. With the used lenses, I saved at least $100 on both and the refurbished one I saved close to $200. The Refurb lens worked perfectly (still does actuall). It is a Nikkor lens and was refurbished by Nikon. So I say go for it if the savings is big enough.

Sure- I have bought a factory refurbished camera body before w/o any issues.

Some might even state that you're less likely to get a faulty lens if you buy a refurb, as it has been checked out and passed the necessary tests.

I'm not sure if I believe in that, but I certainly would consider one. I definitely have no problem buying used lenses as long as I'm confident that it's been well taken care of (or can be had to a big discount.)
