would you bring your high end stroller?

I was discussing our trip with my mom the other day and mentioned looking for a stroller to bring with us. She was shocked I wasn't bringing our regular stroller. I don't feel comfortable bringing my UPPAbaby Vista. First, it is too expensive to risk it being stolen. Second, it's bug and heavy! I planned on buying a G Luxe for our trip. Does anyone bring their high end stroller to the World?

For a high end stroller, my concern is the chance it will get a little banged up by the airline if you are flying and have to gate check your stroller. I have heard stories about people's strollers getting broken or dirty after a flight. Another thing to consider is if it is a big and heavy stroller, what your level of ease will be in folding it up to take on the Disney buses (if you are staying onsite and using Disney transporation) as well as pushing it around the parks for long stretches of time. There are ways to deter potential theft such as making an identification label out of a laminated 8 1/2 x 11 size paper/poster board and use a hole puncher to put holes in it so that you can use zip ties to attach it to the back of your stroller; and you can also put other "accessories" on your stroller (ribbons, scarves, etc.) so someone won't accidentally take your stroller thinking it is their's of the same model.

My question would be whether you could find another stroller that your special needs son will be just as comfortable and happy in as the one you have now.

There is no place you are going to need it more than WDW and though I know little about this model, I would guess that he may be close to outgrowing it soon anyway.

I just believe in using (though taking care of ) things and not worrying too much about the outcome.

Oh I definitely am not bringing my Vista lol I was just wondering what others say. The Vista has a travel bag that you can use and if anything happens during travel they will cover the damage. The stroller will be for my new daughter (due this month). DS is going to be hoofing it this year for the first time....and he complains about it 7 months in advance. Go figure, the kid with more energy than a wall outlet hates to walk anywhere.

We bought a double side by side at a garage sale that became our 'WDW' stroller...paid about $40 and saved, I'm guessing, about $800 in rental costs - plus - it was an old model so it was so easy to spot ours among all the newer ones AND it folder way flatter than any of the ones we had.

I always thought, 'hey- if it gets stolen, we'll just rent the rest of the week' - but of course, no one wanted to steal this one!

I loved doing it this way back in the days when we used stroller.

It's not exactly high end, but I took our Peg Perego P3 last time with no problem. We are taking it again now that we have two dc. They are 3 and 1 so the little can ride in and the bigger can ride on the back. I talked dh out of renting because it was easier with our own last time. I had a bit of anxiety when I couldn't find it because a cast member moved it lol. I wouldn't trade having a comfortable, familiar stroller (with a great harness ) for anything.

If something were to happen to it, I would just find another P3 on craigslist.

UPPAbaby has an awesome lightweight stroller that reclines and you can snag it for around $149. That's what I plan on getting for DD. Since we go every year, it won't be a wasted investment and I know it's an excellent stroller. I'd rather replace $149 than $679 and I definitely don't want to lug a 20+ pound stroller AND an infant on and off buses.

We would and, in fact, have! We have a Baby Jogger Double Elite and I just love it too much to leave it at home.

For the airport, we bought the cover for the stroller and checked it gate-side. It has been fine.

Re possibility of being stolen -- admittedly, I was worried about it the first time, but I just decided not to wory. We didn't lock it or anything when we went on rides. We even left the diaper bag on it most times. My view is that I was on vacation and I wanted to do it and I just wasn't going to worry about the VERY slim chance that somebody would take it.

I also think it is covered under my home insurance policy if anything were to
happen, but I'm not completely positive about that.

We have the Uppababy Vista too. We have annual passes and have taken the stroller there many times. But its way too heavy for me to put on the tram by myself so we just bought the G-luxe too. One thing that has made us feel more comfortable bringing a high end stroller was the buggygaurd lock. It's easy to use and only takes a few seconds to take it off.

I really do love the G Luxe as a lightweight for traveling. I was playing with it in the store the other day and it handles SO much better than the Volo I had used for DS in the parks. I also love the reclining on it. Uppababy definitely makes great strollers.

Hmm. Not on this computer, but I may have some on my husband's computer. I'll check!

I have a BJCCS also and love it. You will have no problems with the bus. As you know, folding it is such a breeze. On our last trip we had a 6 month old and a 2 1/2 year old and we had no problem managing all of our stuff and the stroller.

We test drove all strollers before we bought the Elite and it is, by far, I think, the best stroller out on the market. Baby Joggers are just wonderful, generally.

You can find an alternative stroller that will suit your needs at a resale shop.

I'm not willing to take the risk of losing or damaging a high-end stroller.

We drive so the airline issue is nonexistent for us, think that would change things. We also don't use the buses and prefer to drive to the parks. We are staying at VWL so we will take the boat to MK so may or may not have to break the stroller down. I plan to buy a buggy guard for the stroller and my DH also says taking the front wheel off is simple. We have another double stroller and my mother bought one from a consignment shop as well. DH says he is taking our good one if he has to push it for a week. Keeping my fingers crossed!

We brought our Bob Revolution Duallie this past Sept and were glad we had it with us. We flew and took disney transportation and had no problems with it. If you stand with it by the back door there is pleanty of room for it and you aren't in anyone's way. We just made a bag for it and padded it with foam for the flight.

As for taking the wheels off, your dh is correct. It's super super easy! I can take all 3 wheels off with one hand in about 1 minute. It seriously could not be any easier. Once the wheels are off, the stroller folds pretty flat.

As for worrying about someone steeling it, we've never had a problem with that either. We label it with a 8.5 x 11 brightly colored laminated sign with our last name and phone # on it and zip tie it to the handle bars. Can't miss it. We always make sure we are in a designated stroller parking area and no one has even moved our stroller. Our homeowners insurance also covers it if it gets lost or damaged, so no worries there either.

We didn't have a problem with ours, but it was a pain on the trams from the parking lot. We are switching to a sit n stand and staying on the monorail.

We bring our baby jogger double city select. Cost of renting a double is prohibitive and we figure if it gets stolen, so be it. The twins love the comfort of it and we love how easy it is to manoeuver and the storage space. Getting on and off of busses is not an issue because we rent a car. We love how narrow it is so we can get in and out of the tightest spots. We actually bought it specifically for travel. When we are in Europe, its larger wheels make navigating cobblestones easy. Our strollers get heavey use; we figure if they were ever lost, they wouldn't owe us anything anyway. Take yours, and be comfortable.

We use an Uppababy VISTA on a daily basis here at home (we rarely get in the car, we just walk everywhere), but having just gone to WDW in December, I could never imagine bring the VISTA to WDW!

I can't imagine folding and unfolding it so many times and fitting it on the buses and boats, etc. For the December trip, we brought our BabyJogger City Mini, which is super easy to fold and much lighter than the VISTA, and even that seemed pretty heavy and unwieldy at times.

We are bringing our Maclaren Techno XLR and although it's not technically high end, it would be a nightmare to have stolen because I'm 6'7 and its the only one I've found thats comfortable for me to push. I would love to hear any other "anti theft" tips or suggestions.
