I was just at AK on earth day, and I'm pretty sure many people thought it was rol opening day because the park was slammed. So maybe I can offer some advice.
Book your three fast passes. If you like kali, book that for 2-3 when the day will be the hottest. I'd use my second for night safari. Don't worry about using them for shows unless rol is offered.
Definitely get a rol fp or dining package if offered.
Book an early dinner ADR. I recommend yak and yeti. You'll need the break from the crowds and the heat. You can use the meal to recharge and get ready for the nighttime fun.
Be there at rope drop. Go straight to EE if you like that ride. You'll probably be able to get a couple rides in. On earth day we went straight to the safari and still waited a half hour. If your going to have a wait for the safari, I'd head to EE first for a few rides.
Look at the show times for ak's three excellent shows and try to fit them in around noon-5 (the hottest parts of the day). Lion King and nemo are indoors with air conditioning, the bird show is outdoors but has a roof to keep the sun off and has fans.
I wouldn't really plan much for nighttime except the safari nighttime fast pass and rol. I'd expect crowds and just roll with it and enjoy the atmosphere at night.
