I selected other, because I always  that option.

The thing is, usually, if I select a specific room it's because of the number of beds, or because someone in my party needs an accessible room. In either case, I'd be mad. Hasn't happened at Disney, but one hotel tried to tell me that roll away was the same as a queen, and before that, one king=equaled 2 queens. No. No, it doesn't, when the occupancy is 4.

I don't mean special requests. I mean something concrete that was promised when I made the reservation. Because if they don't promise an accessible room or sufficient number of beds, I DON'T make that reservation!

Just out of curiosity, is an accessible room listed as something you can book for or do you have to make a special request. I don't recall ever seeing it listed as a booking option so I was just curious.

I don't know if you can book it online, actually. (Many hotels let you do so.) but my older relatives have NEEDED bars in bathrooms for a while now, so if I'm traveling with them (and I've done this for Disney as well) I call to book directly. And then I make sure my booking confirmation has that noted. Because there isn't much of a point in booking a room we can't stay in. Let a hotel get away with that once, and the front desk is the one who paid for that- he had to come up and talk gran out of the bathtub!:rotfl2:so I have learned my lesson, if they can't give me a guarantee, we don't stay there. Hotels are usually awesome about that, btw. Accessible rooms are not something they question because they know it looks bad. Plus, liability. I don't actually like accessible rooms- often all that means is larger bathrooms and smaller beds. So I would think that most people don't request it without a darn good reason.

That's one of the reasons I don't do discount sites, actually. Because there it would be luck of the draw instead of being armed with a confirmation email.

Also, as a side note- I don't know if you've ever travelled with a wheelchair, but if you haven't, and do someday, keep in mind that a lot of hotels have...interesting...adaptations. Like the ramp will be like navigating a skate park. Or there will be an elevator ...that you have to climb 5 stairs to reach. Accessible does not mean what those designers think it means. I don't mean Disney- they're good about it- but I've seen enough that my first step is to call the front desk and make sure that they KNOW a wheelchair can navigate their hotel.:rolleyes2

Yeah, I'm with the Others group.
And i agree...if it were a pool view vs a parking lot view, I would be less upset. I would appreciate a meal or extra FP, but wouldn't get all cranky about it. I would expect the $$ difference to be taken care immediately though, without hassle (whether as a room credit or back on the cc).

If I were booked CL or savannah view or something, then yes, I would be upset about the downgrade. It would take a lot more than a couple FP or the refund of the difference to make it right with me. More like dinner at V&A or CRT at no charge plus FP + cost difference (again without hassle) + a decent discount for the downgrade.

I think the the down grade all depends on the hotel and level of downgrade. Are we talking Animal Kingdom, downgrading from Savana view to parking lot view? That would suck but as long as you get your money back Im cool with it. Or are we talking about taking a downgrade from deluxe to moderate resort? That should be unheard of. I have experienced a change in resort plans twice in all the times I went to WDW. The first time my son was injured by a bathroom door at All Star Sports. We asked to change resorts due to the traumatic event and our distaste for the resort. They had a room over at Coronado so we paid the difference. The second time we were staying at the Coronado resort in a concierge level room and needles to say we weren't impressed. To add insult to injury our air conditioning was shutting off through out the day/night. We kindly asked for another room and they said all they had was one over in Saratoga Springs. They upgraded us no charge.

If I got my money back, I don't care where they put me. Disney is Disney...
