On the day of our arrival we have the opportunity for 5:10 pm ADR for Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner at The Grand Floridian or 9:00 pm ADR for Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary.

We are driving (approx. 4 hours) and will check in around 3pm. (usually earlier if we can)

3 of us, Mom, Dad, and 8yr old son.

We plan on sleeping in the next day, maybe go swimming, and doing MVMCP.

Would love to hear your opinions, food wise, entertainment, etc.

I've never had the meal at the Grand Floridian but the Chef Mickey's food is just okay in my opinion. We've eaten there for the past 3 years....and this year when we sat down and figured out ADRs we really thought about it and figured out we were just eating there because it was convenient and we had an extra dining credit. We never really ate it for the food.

I think that DS would have difficulty enjoying that late of a dining reservation the first day. You would know better than anyone if he will be able to hang in there and actually eat and enjoy himself that late?

But, would he enjoy a Cinderella meal?

If you want a character meal, there are lots of options. Go with the one that son will enjoy the most and that fits your schedule the best.

play with online reservations for options that might fit a bit better.

Would your son be happy eating at Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner? I can imagine what my son would say at the prospect...and it wouldn't be pretty!
I think 9pm might be a little late, you might all be tired after the journey so I would go for an earlier time but not at a princess meal.
