Hi everyone,
DH and I (mostly I) are planning a vow renewal. I've been on these boards asking questions and getting great feedback. Now I would love some ideas about how to incorporate my kids.
Here is the low down:
DH likes the idea of intimate vow renewal. He however is not an overly romantic guy. He does not think I should consider wearing a "wedding gown" (which I'm pretty much in agreement with. Although I did play with the idea of wearing my original WG.)
We had a formal original wedding. It will be our 25th anniversary at VR time.
We are trying to get the priest who originally married us. (please wish :wizard: for us on this)
It will probably be my mom, my Dad and his companion (parents are divorced & not friendly so this is iffy) and our children.
Now, our children are:
triplet 16.5 (at time of VR) 2 boys 1 girl and
4year old dd.
I want to make this special for them too. They are part of our marriage. They are part of the richer/ poorer, sickness/health, etc.
We are trying to keep this lower end of budget. ( 3 college bills coming up :bitelip: )

Now, what we are thinking.
time of year: Nov. 13, 2007
ceremony Location: maybe sea breeze point
resort: OKW 2bdrm (dvc members)
dinner: Yachtman

So, what about flowers? Do I get one for DD's? and boutiniers for DS's
If we have pictures in WDW (I know extra $) do you think they will let our children with us in the pictures? (just some pictures)
Champgne- I don't drink at all, DH would be just as happy without it. Do we have to have it?
cake cutting - would love a specialty cake (what we don't drink we make up for in sweets!)

So here's your challenge, you creative ladies (and/or gentlemen). help me make this special enough to show my kids what true lifelong love is all about.

Thanks to everyone,
Dee

DH and I got married July 22, 2006. I have a DD from my 1st marriage who is 9 1/2. While my DH and I exchanged vows she was up on the stage holding hands with us. (It looked like a ring of 3 with her closest to the audience). After DH and I said "I Do" DD and DH exchanged vows swearing to be good father/daughter to each other. To cap it off, he gave her a white gold heart shaped necklace with diamonds in it. She knew about the vow, had no idea about the necklace. Not a dry eye in the room is the feedback I got. I know your renewal is not the same as a new wedding, but, just an idea. For our flowers we got roses and my mom hand tied them with white satin ribbon over white floral tape. We had 120 roses and they cost $150. Not bad I thought. We used the leaves from the bouquets for the greenery for the mens flowers. As far as champagne, I would suggest apple cider as a good alternative. Also, I work for a winery that makes de-alcoholized wines. One of which is a sparkling brut (Champagne is actually sparkling wine from a region in France known as Champagne and there are regulations prohibitting sparkling from being called Champagne unless it is from there, sorry, just a bit of trivia). I can give you the info if you would like.

Thank you Poohprincess. I bet there wasn't a dry eye in the house! My teared just reading. How lucky you all are. Congratulations!

I actually work at a liquor store. (20 yrs now  ) I have found I don't like the taste of non-alc champagne. Too many years of drinking the good stuff I guess. If you don't mind me asking...what winery? In the US? Perhaps NE area?

hiya
another option for the flowers is getting boutiniers for your sons and rose wands for your DDs. they run quite a bit cheaper than full bouquets. or you could make silk arrangements if you are creative.
you cant have kids at the MK or epcot shoots, but they should be able to join in on photos in the resorts.
the champagne comes as part of the package but think you can swap it for sparkling cider.
you can upgrade the intimate cake, but i'm not sure on prices for that.
you could also make your DSs groomsmen and DDs bridesmaids, a good way to make them feel really part of the day.

You could say vows to your children during your ceremony. I found these...
Do you (groom) and (bride)...

Promise to honor and protect (children),
and to provide for them to the best of your ability?

Do you promise to make their home a haven,
where trust, love, and laughter are abundant?

and do you make these promises lovingly, and freely,
and vow to honor them all the days of your lives?

(groom) and (bride)... We do.

You could also get them something special like a family medalion or a necklace of some sort. Or instead of a unity candle you could have a "family candle" and light it all together...or do a sand ceremony where you blend different colors of sand (representing each person) together. Good luck and happy planning! princess:

Born and raised in Napa, CA. I didn't mean to sound condesending with the champagne/sparkling thing, I have just found that there many people who don't know. I work for J.Lohr Vineyards & Wines. The winery is based in San Jose with a big center in Paso Robles and a small office in Napa. Seems backwards to me since Napa is famous for its wines, but, it works and we do well. Ariel Vineyards in the non-alcoholic line and we do right about 100,000 cases per year in Ariel. But, I am actually not a big drinker, so, I am with you, I want all or nothing on sparkling. I would say that the alcohol is an added expense and go without if you don't want it. I would have had a "dry" wedding if my DH would have gone for it. We had wine and beer with CHEAP sparkling for the guests. We had a bottle of Domaine Chandon for the wedding party and parents and Martinelli's for the kids.

Not to worry you didn't sound condesending. I understand. I used to drink J.Lohr on occasion. It is actually one of our better sellers. I have never heard of Ariel N/A. We sell Martinellis though.....Now Dom Chandon....oh ya. I used to love Moet White Star.

Thanks for the info!
