Would like to inquire about renting at WL Villas.

Disney's CRO and Disney's DVC both have their own inventory of rooms at the DVC villas. CRO retains 4% of the rooms...the rest are owned by DVC members. ...

Just to clarify ...

DVD retains between 2-4% of the rooms at each DVC resort. These points are NOT controlled by CRO - the purpose is to have inventory available when rooms are being renovated or maintained and will be out of service for a period of time (like with the repairs/renovations ongoing at BWV). When this inventory won't be needed for that purpose, DVD may release the rooms for cash reseravtions.

The greatest source of rooms for cash reseravtions comes from points used by DVC resort owners for non-DVC options like the Disney cruise, Concierge Collection and Disney Collection. Those points are immediately turned over to CRO to be used for cash reservations (and are no linger available to members for point reservations).

If members chose NOT to use their points for non-DVC options, there would be little (if any) availability at DVC resorts for cash reservations.

The only current exception to this is at SSR where DVD has control over any villas not yet added to the member inventory for sale purposes.

As noted, availability thru CRO is not an indication of availability for DVC point reservations. 60 days in advance , any villas not reserved using points are made available to CRO for cash reservations. Cash reservations made during that time frame (and from that source) are used to offset member dues.

Just one more thing to consider (if it hasn't been mentioned already - I skimmed this pretty fast). There is no daily housekeeping. I'm not sure how important that is to you. I know on my Honeymoon, the privacy would have been more important!

I think you will love VWL. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of this.

Congratulations and Good Luck,

My wife and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Villas last year during Hurricane Frances. (And the best low-crowd days I've ever seen at WDW were the day before landfall and the first day of re-opening. Imagine being able to go on every ride you want with less than a two-minute wait!)

Anyway, to prepare for our trip down there, I downloaded a satellite image of Wilderness Lodge and used it as my desktop wallpaper. I'm hoping this might help in showing how close the Villas are to the main building and transportation.

The building in the center with the brown roof is the Villas. Wilderness Lodge is the building with the green roof. The pool just above the Villas is for Villas guests. At the top of the picture, just a bit left of middle, is the stream that starts in the main lodge building and then "flows into" the main pool.

At the part of the Villas building closest to the lodge, you'll see two straight green structures that form sort of a flattened, sideways "V", connected to the lodge. That's the covered walkway from the lodge to the WDW bus stop. Near the apex of that "V", a brown covered walkway begins and curves to the front door of the Villas. So Villas guests really have a short walk to the bus stop. And the main part of the lodge is only about one to two minutes away after you walk out of the Villas.

At the end of the Villas building, furthest away from the lodge, you'll notice something white on the roof. I don't know what that is, but it's right above the studio room we had. (I think the studios might all be at the end.) Even overlooking the dumpsters, we had a great view!
