Would it be stupid/corny to decorate my window/door at Riverside?

Sorry, no tape. Disney has asked that guests not use tape or other substances that leave a residue or could mark the surface.

How about extending the poster or the banner and have it pinched at the top door. No tape is used. It's just hanging on the door.

I printed out a photo magnet to put on my door at port Orleans riverside. Also, I wanted to place a few things in the windows using suction cups. I wouldn't do anything to damage it, but I'm wondering if this is considered tacky or stupid. Thanks :wizard:

Would it make you happy? If it would it's not tacky or stupid and the door is metal so magnets stick. I left a little clip board with sticky notes on our door and pencil on a string so we could leave notes too. It was fun.

I decorated my window when i stayed at csr. It wasn't Christmas but lots of ppl had theirs done. I didn't waste park time bc I did it on arrival day after c/I around 8p. I used clear fishing line and strung together lime green Mickey heads to create curtains which I hung with suction cups (think beaded curtains but Mickey) I put some stuffed animals on display and I used magnet backing from a craft store to safely stick a large dry erase board to my door. On the dry erase board I put mine and my exs dis names (previous name retired) on the board and got lots of comments from fellow dis'ers, mouse keeping and other guests. Nothing nasty just friendly hellos. I'll do it again when I stay at aoa in December.

I always put at least one lime green Mickey head with my DIS name on it, on the window, just to make it easy to find my room.:rotfl: However, I also have Disney clings for Christmas, Halloween, and Spring (Tink and friends with flowers), that I use if I'm down there during that time. I also have some cute purple mini lights that I've used if I'm down there in Oct and some clear mini lights for Christmas. I also have some orange and black Home Depot Mickey heads that I've strung on 1/4" black satin ribbon that I use as a swag with the Halloween clings, then have another swag made with all different color Mickey Heads strung on a light pink skinny ribbon that I use with the Tink Flower Festival clings.

When we were there Feb 4th-11th with our 3 y/o grandson, I had had someone over on the creative designs board make me character license plates with my, my husband's and my grandson's names on them, then laminated them and used them on the window at POFQ. My GS loved it. Every time we came back to our room, he'd point to his name and say "that's our room. I see my name".

I always carry a small (like 3oz) spray bottle of windex though and clean the windows before we leave. In fact, the windows are always cleaner when we leave than when we arrived.:rotfl: Also I would never use tape on a painted service. There'd be a good chance the paint might come off with the tape.

One mistake I made when I was down there one Dec: I bought one of those large Christmas door panels that plays music if you walk by it or get within a certain distance. It covered the entire door. I did use tape that one trip on the top, bottom, and sides of the door to put it up, then hung the connected metal hanger that holds the music box over the door inside. That thing was a pain in the rear end. Anytime anyone walked by the room, it'd go off singing 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree'. Everyone seemed to love it though, including the housekeeper (who I left it for, the day I flew home). I would not take something like down there again, but I was solo that trip and it was kind of nice as a security feature. No one could get close to my door without me knowing it.

Here is an entire thread devoted to this subject:

I plan to decorate our window at POFQ when we go in September. I don't think it is tacky, I think it adds to the fun. I saw many windows decorated at POP last year and marveled at the creativity. I heard many comments on how cute they were as the hoards travelled to the buses. I didn't hear anything negative.

To respond to the comment about showing your temporary neighbors you like Disney, that isn't always what the decorations are about. Sometimes it's a birthday banner, sometimes it's an anniversary. I saw lots of different things in the windows - not just Disney related.

It never fails to amaze me how people can make something innocent and fun sound so heinous and offending. :rolleyes2
