I might be changing my travel plans to drive instead of fly. I have booked a RT flight on SWA with an Internet special fare. If I were to cancel the reservation, would I get the credit to use within a year, or would I be out the $$ completely?

Thanks for the info. I don't fly very often so I have no idea how these things work.

You get the credit which is good for one year from the date you orignally BOOKED the ticket, not you flight date.

Thanks. I do realize it's from the booking date (I have a credit with them from rebooking the ressie at the lower rate). I just wasn't sure if I'd have to completely forfeit all my money if I cancelled. I gather that's not the case, even with "nonrefundable" fares?

Also if you can't use it yourself you can use it for family or friends..... SWA is great.

OK so I can switch names on the credit but not the original ticket, right? :goodvibes

Right. If you had a ticket in your name and cancelled, you would get a credit and it could be used in anyone's name.
