would characters autograph using iPad/tablet devices?

This may be a weird question...... Has anyone had the characters sign using a stylus on your electronic devices?

I've been racking my brain to come up with something for the autographs this trip and we've done our own photobooks, picture frames, hat, bags. Looking for something new to do.

DH came up with an idea of having the characters sign using a stylus pen on iPad, sign over our old vacation photos from last year. Once we get home, we can use them to make a custom printed blanket or some photo printed gift.

Thoughts?

Even though this is a really cool idea, I can see them having issue with it because who knows what a digital autograph could be used on. Someone might try to make a profit of it or a product with one on it.

Someone gave me a lightscribe pen over the holidays and so far I've really enjoyed it. Basically a pen that you use on normal paper but it's synced with a tablet or phone to get an electronic copy of your notes. If it's somethign that might be useful in day to day life, that might be a good alternative to get the same thing without having to hand them the tablet

I can't imagine the issues a character and/or a character attendant would have with a character holding such an expensive piece of material that belonged to a guest. I'd bet anything that a friend with Tigger would not feel comfortable holding someone's iPad in what are essentially big mittens.

I honestly wouldn't do it, and I don't think the character attendant would be too willing to let you.

Here's someone who did that. Not sure I'd use the same app she did though. I would use my ArtStudio app and have them sign right over whatever photo I wanted. Or, you could always have them sign over a white plain image and then photoshop that right over whatever photo or artwork you wish.
There are digital autographs on the Internet already, so I don't think that would even be an issue. I've gotten transparent signature PNGs to use on things I have photoshopped many times.

Not a weird question at all!

Unless things have changed recently, the characters will be able to hold a stylus and sign an electronic device. I've definitely seen it done before.

Thanks all! I was originally concerned they would not allow also due to any copyright issue etc but I see no different if I made prints and had them sign it, scan it back into my computer. The tablet would make it easier for me. I would have them sign over my own personal photos so it's not even like I can use their signatures. I'm not concerned about our iPad being dropped, I would be standing next to the character and it is child proofed - my kids probably dropping it gazillion times.

I'm torn - if we go this route, I feel like I should have a back up plan in case they really don't sign. But I'm glad some of you have seen this happen though.

Have you taken your trip yet? If so, did this work? I'm considering it as well. If so, what type of stylus did you use? I'm thinking it needs to be the size of a Sharpie and have found a few options, but they are expensive. I'm wondering if it is worth the expense or if any stylus would do.

Thanks!

I didn't end up going with iPad since I wasn't sure if they would. We ended up going with wood letters that spelt out our family name.

Enjoy your trip!

And yes I think you need a stylus that has a wider tip and the longer the length of stylus probably better for the characters to grip. I found one on Amazon but didn't end up buying it since we went with a different route.
