Hi,Were thinking about a trip to Orlando the end of April. We found $182 rt pp but it's on Delta connecting in Atlanta.I have read so much about Delta flights being cancelled and flights being delayed out of Atlanta.
Should I chance taking Delta? And taking that connection in Atlanta to get a lower airfare??
Any comments?
Thanks Debbie

Atlanta airport is notorious for having problems in the summer months when the thunderstorms roll through in the afternoon. In April I doubt you'd have a problem. Try not to book the last connecting flight of the day, other than that, you should be fine.

How long is your layover? I wouldn't worry so much about being delayed, but you do need plenty of time to change planes. I have gone thru Atlanta a few times, and have been delayed once. But they were very quick to put us on a different plane. Actually, if not for the delay we probably would have missed out connection, so it was a good thing.

We have flown Delta twice through Atlanta and have never had a problem with connections or delays. Both times we went were in November though and we took early flights out of Syracuse.

As another poster said, make sure you have plenty of time in between flights and you may have quite a walk to your next connection.

Atlanta, sometimes you luck out and your next flight is in the same concourse, other times you need to change. :confused3 .

Thunderstorms and Fog can be a problem.

We flew Delta last year, with layovers in Atlanta going down and coming home. We did run into slight layovers because of the thunderstorms, but nothing major. We also had layovers in Orlando because thunderstorms.

Thank you all for your replies. Our flight would be early morning and it would only be a little over an hour in Atlanta airport. We would be arriving Orlando at 12:36pm.It's a little earlier than most of the flights that are low priced out of Albany,NY.
OK so I guess we can take a chance.Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

I have lived most of my life in cities where if you wanted to get ANYWHERE you conneceted and 99.9% of the time you connected through Atlanta. It's not that bad, I did it for years! (Mornings are generally better then evenings)

Thanks Carol.I was hoping that was the case.We don't mind the connection we just want to get to our destination really quick with no delays!! Of course we do! We're headed to Disney.
