Would cancelling a room-only reservation cancel FPs already reserved?

Currently, we are booked to stay onsite at AKL for a stay later this month (just a room reservation--not a package), and we have dining and FP+'s booked. But we're now thinking about maybe cancelling the AKL reservation and staying off-site to save money.

If we do this, does anyone know if the room cancellation would result in the automatic cancellation on MDE of our FP reservations? Until this week, I assume they would have been cancelled, but now that off-site guests can book FP+s within 30 days out, I'm thinking the FP slots would not be cancelled.

Waddyathink??? And thanks!!

Nope. As long as you have tickets linked and all of your days are within the 30 days. I did this last week and all of mine stuck.

do you get charged if the magic bands ship and you end up canceling your resort stay for offsite stay?

I would be interested in knowing this too. Would seem to be a loophole in order to book FP+ at the 60 day mark and not the 30 day mark (if that matters to a person). Make a room only reservation for your stay (ie. a week)., make FP+ at 60 days, and ADR at 180 days, then cancel room-only with under 30 days left and stay offsite. MagicBand question is good too, would they change you for it if you cancel (my guess is not...at least right now)

Don't you need park tickets for each day you make FP + resservations? Would that not mean you have to book a package? Or. Are you assuming that you're buying tickets through a separate purchase ?

Yes, you need park tickets linked to book FP+, but no, you don't need to get a package to do that. It does seem like a loophole if you can cancel your room at 30 days out and keep your fastpasses.

yes thats what I was wondering. It seems like a serious loophole or in the case that someone really does need to change their plans because maybe more people end up coming or some other reason. That would seem bad too cause if they loose their plans just from changing to offsite even when at the 30 day mark or even 15 day mark they would essentially being penalized at that point and what about the 12.99 magicbandssent out at that point. There would have to be a way to ship them back if they cancelled with no prior agreements to pay for them upon cancellation

As the OP, I certainly wasn't looking for a loophole as I'm really just looking at the possibility of saving serious money on the hotel stay at this point. (If Disney
corporate personnel are reading this, I assure you all the money I would save on hotel costs would be more than offset by higher spending on in-park popcorn, Dole Whips, and light sabers and such. Really. Well, mostly, kinda sorta anyway.)
