Would a triple stroller get rejected from an Airline?

I just bought a Joovy Big Caboose triple for my girls for our trip to WDW. It folds compactly but it is is very long. I would say it is about 5' folded. Do you think they would say "sorry it's to big"?

How are you going to get that monster on a resort bus or even the monorail? Let alone an airplane.

We aren't taking the resort bus. We are renting an SUV. I don't see why it wouldn't fit in the monorail. I ask about the airplane because they always seem to make their own rules up.

I would think your best bet would be to call the airline and see what they say.

You should see some of the golf bags that come off the baggage carousel here in Myrtle Beach!! The ones that have the clubs, then some kind of suitcase thing on top have to be close to 5' long. Call the airline but I don't think it'll be a problem.

Then again, I live in the city where they'll throw suitcases off the plane if we're overweight rather golf clubs.

As checked luggage the airline would likely take it. If it lands in oversized luggage, you might have to go to the special counter to retrieve it. I do agree with the poster that mentions difficulty with resort buses and the monorail. It's busy, and can be hard to get off and on with this monster.

if you are checking it they will certainly take it, what they charge you for taking it is another question.
if you want to gate check it you may have an issue they made us put our double through the security machine. it barely fit, i was a bit nervous. they said if it didnt fit it had to be checked. it fit
is it side by side or tandem? if its tandem it will fit on the monorail, but if its side by side it wont.

Just FYI even when driving you are still going to have to take a tram and for MK the monorail or boat. I have seen more than a few larger double strollers that could not fit into the regular monorail car and had to wait for an empty handicap car. FWIW folks with wheelchair or EVC's get priority over strollers.

As for the flight you are probably better off checking it, I would pack it well and be prepared to pay oversized and or extra bag charges.

if it is 3 seats length-wise (rather than side by side), you should be able to get it in the monorail, no problem (well, ok, it might be a bit of a shuffle!!).

we take our triple Runabout (3 seats, front-to-back). we, too, just take the car to the parks when we have the stroller. my stroller WILL fit on the monorail, in any of the cars, but often the CMs will try and tell us to wait for the handicapped accessible car (which we then have to promise them that it WILL, indeed, fit in the other cars and we will not be holding up traffic!). the only time this bigger stroller is an issue (and keep in mind, our's does NOT fold down) is when the monorail is packed and there are already loads of people waiting at each door, in which case we wait for the next monorail to ensure that we have our own space.

our RA is also fine on the the ferry from TTC.

it can be a bit of a walk from the parking lots to the parks without the use of the trams, but with 3 young kids, you're going to want to get there at opening anyway , so you can hopefully get a good parking spot! when we go back to the parks after naptime/rest time, the parking attendants will often let us check for parking spots up front (loads availableusually by 5 or 6pm!) when we explain that we can't get on the tram.

i can't help you with the airline, other than to tell you that plenty of triplet families have reported no problems taking their triplet strollers and having them checked-in at the gate. as PP mentioned, i'd call to double check and see about addtl. charges.

I agree the biggest concern would be if you were gate checking it and had to get it fit through the metal detectors. But then again, what do they do with wheelchairs?

I'd definitely want to gate check it.

I think it would be okay on the monorail - look for the handicapped car, as it may provide more space for it.

You should be fine - Disney is so family friendly!

The use a handheld wand detector on wheelchairs. They also use s little mirror to look at the underside of the seat. Most of the time, they also do a swab for explosives on DD's wheelchair footrests.
Depending on whether there is a line up for people with wheelchairs, it can add 10 minutes to the screening.

I just returned from a vacation and the airline that we used did make the family with the triple stroller check it as luggage and would not allow them to gate check it.

The Joovy Triple isnt REALLY a triple - its really a double with jump seat and goes front to back not side to side. I dont see why you would have to do anything special with it.

You are not going to have any problems with gate check- they don't care.
As for the monorails/busses etc. Don't worry! I've seen people with 4 and 5 seat strollers get right on without an issue.

Thank you. It isn't 3 complete seats like the Inglesina Domino or the Peg Perego. It folds flat so if there is a problem with space we can fold it and stand it up (its tandem). I checked with Jet Blue and it will be fine. Oversized is between 63"-80" and it cost $75 extra.

It WILL fit onto a Monorail. We used ours often when we lived there. You may have to wait for a less crowded car every now and then but usually you wouldn't have a problem.

It would not fit through the screening machine so they used the handheld wand and did the swab tests - both going to Orlando and our return to Newark. What they also did (both ways) was have us use the line for airline employees/business ticketed passengers - basically it was a straight line, instead of going in and around. I gate checked the stroller.

A stroller that fits in the xray machine will usually just be xrayed.
