Worst WDW Food Experience

Thanks, TheRealDrDisney. I try to be proactive in sorting out problems (mainly due to hanging out on the DisBoards and seeing so many people recommend it!) plus I understand that it's a tough job to serve in a busy restaurant. And I agree with you - there's no need to be rude or confrontational. Politely requesting some help generally gets a good response.

I've only been to two places that i found to be not as good.
Morimoto Asia : Ordered an appetizer for myself and my mom ordered an entree. She got her entree, I got my appetizer 45 minutes later.
Pecos Bills : I went last MNSSHP there expecting the nachoes I always got only to find the menu completely changed. Ended up getting kids grilled cheese thinking i'd get a sandwich but they were the smuckeres type mini sandwiches.

Neither as bad as things people have said and I'd still go back knowing now what to expect.

Le Cellier--service poor, restaurant over-crowded, food unexceptional. Love the Canada pavilion, so pretty, but the restaurant? Naw. Not worth the $$$
Cali Grill--before remodel, haven't been back, but service was rude, food was unexceptional. The place is just---lame. Tries too hard to be cool. And the menu is unappealing to me. I lived in California for 35 years--and I don't understand the menu. It's just odd to me. Sushi, yeah yeah. My brother got intestinal parasites from sushi. I'll pass on sushi, thanks...

BUT THE WINNER IS: Liberty Tree Tavern. Consistently down hill--last two times ridiculously slow service, cold food, have to go hunting down the waitress. And listen, I realize, it's a theme park--I don't expect flawless service--but I do expect my drink glass to be refilled at some point and I want to get my check without having to hunt the server down. I always give places a second chance, but LTT is off the list forever. Too bad, it's a themed restaurant we liked very much.

But honestly, I am not sure what the value of these kinds of threads really is--everyone's experiences seems to vary so greatly--with the exception of Chef Mickey's, which appears to be universally viewed as negative.

San Angel Inn is a restaurant we love--I have lived all my life in the South West (CA, AZ, TX) and I can tell you that their Mexican food is authentically Mexican. It may not appeal to some, but it is authentic. I love that it is not burritos and tacos. I dislike the flavors in the Moroccan restaurant, but I don't say it's unauthentic; I just don't like it. So, to each their own.

These threads are always so fun to read because eventually every single restaurant in WDW will be mentioned.

Our worst experience was at Kona for Breakfast. Our food was terrible - part was over cooked and part was undercooked. DH was able to choke down most of his, but I just couldn't. When our sever finally reappeared and asked why I hadn't eaten, I showed her how runny the eggs were and how hard the biscuits were. She agreed that they weren't good, but offered nothing. She was more interested in visiting with a "regular" who was at another table.

BOG Lunch. Never again. We had to wait forever for a table. Even though we pre-ordered it took about 45 minutes for us to be served. My dd's meal was inedible. Her apple juice was so watered down.

Took us 45 minutes to get CUPCAKES!...CUPCAKES?...and then one of the ones they brought was the wrong one!:scratchin There were only 3 of us.

The single worst meal and experience i have ever had on 3 occasions now would be the Sci-Fi dine in theatre.....oh my god what a terrible place....dont get it, never will

Tony's Town Square at Magic Kingdom and Paradiso 37 at Disney Springs.

I can't say that I can pick out my worst experience. I don't go to WDW with expectations of eating great food. I assume that I will be overcharged for the least amount of food/service which can be legally rendered in exchange. My expectations are low at the start.

However -

Yak & Yeti was not exciting for me. The server spent more time telling me about some rewards program than asking about my dining experience. But on the upside - we had a great seat for the parade that day which came right by our window seat.

At the Sci Fi Dine-In, I couldn't really see what I was eating, so no clue if it was what I ordered or not.

I didn't really enjoy the 50's Diner, but it was mainly because we were so rushed through our meal. Then again, that felt like a common experience anywhere where we we had ADR.

And the counter service dining at Coronado Springs was iffy at best.

But I never came home emaciated as a result of eating at WDW.

50s Prime Time Cafe - After checking in we waited ages after our ADR time and eventually went up to the counter to find we'd been checked off their list by mistake! The service wasn't what we had expected either, no play along with our waiter, which was disappointing.

Sci-Fi Diner - Cold food and slow service (but they did replace the food quickly).

I'm glad that I haven't had some of the nightmarish experiences documented in here. That's not to say that certain meals haven't left something to be desired, but I've always been treated with respect and punctuality by CMs. I hope that continues.

I have nothing but kind things to say about Le Cellier and Chef Mickey’s, but I’ll agree with a lot of what’s been said about Sci-Fi Dine-In. The food is completely lackluster. As a sci-fi and horror geek, I still love the atmosphere though and plan to return with my younger cousin this fall. We’ll just go in with very low food expectations.

I’ll never eat at Columbia Harbour House again though. I’d rather just eat tuna out of a can. I feel the same way about the food quality at T-Rex. I won’t write it off completely because of the child-friendly setting, but I’ll plan on leaving hungry.

And if I return to California Grill it won’t be for the food either. I guess the price may keep me away because I’m not going to pay that much for food I don’t enjoy, but there’s still something to be said for its uniqueness.

Via Napoli. DH had just been in Italy the month before and had eaten actual Italian food including pizza, and he couldn't believe that VN was saying they were authentic. He was absolutely starving, so he ate 2 slices. DS will eat any pizza, good or bad, but he only managed 1 slice. I had two bites (the second was to see if it was as bad as I initiall thought).

The server came by (she didn't seem to care for me from the beginning, probably because I was on my cellphone *dealing with an urgent credit card issue so we could PAY for dinner that night* and she jumped to conclusions) and just stared blankly when I said how bad it was. She didn't even ask if I'd like to see the menu again. Just brought our bill.

All we had was margherita pizza; not easy to mess up, but they did.

People like it because they don't expereince what you're experiencing.

I've had the portobello "burger" for dinner. For the 3 brunches I've been to (4?) I've had the eggs en cocotte and it's fabulous. Last time we got pancakes diaspora (my cousin loved them) and I was able to get a side of pancakes, and omg their pancakes are to die for.

MinnieMum reminded me of Coral Reef. UGH. The vegetarian entree they had at that time...I had to hand it off to DH midway through the meal. It just tasted like tinned tomatoes that had been in the tin way too long. And for a vegetarian, the seafood smell of the place was far too overwhelming and helped to ruin the meal for me.

It didn't make it over VN because they've changed their veggie meal now, so they deserve other chances. Just not from me, until they get rid of the seafood from the menu, LOL.

I've had the Margherita pizza multiple times at Via Napoli and have liked it every time. I make reservations just to go back there for another.

To each their own I guess.

Ours was via napoli, we all love pizza but none of us cared for it at all. Way overpriced for pizza. Also we were going to eat at fultons crab house, waited for a seat forever even though they didn't seem slammed, it smelled mildew-y inside and when we did finally get a seat we noticed dead flies all over the windowsill by our booth...like alot of flies. We left before the server even came to greet our table.

Chef Mickey's for dinner. We went on our first trip and never returned. The wait was ridiculously long, the atmosphere was insane, everything was dirty and the food was disgusting. No other restaurants have come close to being that bad in our multiple trips.

Chef Mickey - easily the worst food, even their baked desserts were not that good.

Honorable mention goes to the Ranch Hot Dog the Launch Pad apparently no longer sells. I think each individual ingredient of that was the worst I have ever had...and they were all combined! The wife didn't want to waste the food so the family sacrificed and we each took a bite.

The Wave- I ordered some beef or steak dish that was the consistency of shoe leather and I asked for a steak knife and they replied that they didn't have any because it was against the theme of the restaurant. So I literally hurt my hand trying to saw through it with a butter knife.

Raglan Road- the food overall was terrible and the salad I ordered had rotten tomatoes on it, not over ripe but rotten, visible to the eye I have no idea why they served it.

Rose & Crown- just overall terrible, bland tasting food.

The worst place for us was Sci-Fi in HS. Didn't care for the atmosphere, nor the food. A totally uncomfortable experience with all the darkness and so-so service.

At 50's PT, you have to be aware that they don't have buzzers and you need to stay close because they will yell your name to seat you. I asked why and they explained that there was no such thing as buzzers or portable microphones in the 50's! Actually pretty funny but we were taught a lesson to stay near the door. It's possible that you missed them calling your name because of that.

We have had good experience at ABC Commissary the last couple of years. They upgraded the menu and it's fine.

Our worst experiences have been:
Chef Mickey's dinner - All casseroles and mushy food, even the salad bar was mushy
Electric Umbrella at Epcot - dirty, cold food, greasy, just generally yuck
Sommerhaus (Germany) Epcot - regular sized hot dog on a giant bun! Not worth the money.
Tony's Town Square at MK - overpriced, boring food. Also not worth the $$

At this point I would have to say Via Napoli - ate there last week and did not care for the pizza. And the place was way too loud. I did love the zeppole tho

Possible, but unlikely, considering we seated ourselves very close to the check-in desk. Never mind, eh.
