Well, to me, "bad attraction" and "attraction that should be torn down" are not necessarily the same thing. I guess you could call the Speedway a bad attraction---it's an ineffecient loader, you stand in the sweltering sun for much of the line, the fumes are asphyxiating, the ride is short and uneventful, etc.--but would I want it to be removed? No! For me it's just part of the Disney magic. I loved it as a very young child and now my own very young children love it; now it's part of their happy Disney memories too.

I definitely agree, though, with those who find the Mexico ride a joke--DH and I tried to restrain ourselves on our last trip but we couldn't help lauging out loud at those old travel films! I would hate to see them get rid of this ride as it's such a nice dark, cool, refreshing escape from a hot summer day, but I don't think it would take much to give it a good updating facelift!

Completely disagree that the Speedway, COuntry Bears and Hall of Presidents should be removed. My parents took me to Disney every year from '76 on and i have fantastic memories of these rides. Like a previous poster wrote, they do lose some appeal to me now but i am 27!!!! I'm sure the kids still love these.

I do like lfontaine's Mary Poppins idea- and i agree that there is SOOOOOO much wasted space in the MK-

In Epcot- Living Seas is a drag

And agreed that in MGM the Backstage tour is torture(the Golden Girls house gets old) but as someone said, if it is your first time everything is magical.

Disney is replacing the Backstage Tour with the Stunt Spectacular from Disney Paris, aren't they? Besides the Disaster Canyon (or whatever the property name is), the Backstage Tour did need removing.

I think the Mexico ride is hysterical when the guy moves from screen to screen trying to sell you souvenirs. Last time I was on it, the movies were so out of synch that the guy would come on the next screen before he was done on the screen before! It's even funnier after a few margaritas from the counter service outside the pavilion!

WDW is not going to remove the Backstage Tour in favor of the new Motors Stunt Show. If you ride the Backstage Tour now, you can actually see where it is being built (plus, with a huge expense like Catastrophe Canyon, they won't just abandon that set). However, they did tear down Residential Street, so no more "Golden Girls" house.

As for the old attractions, I, like make others, am a sentimentalist. I was extremely disappointmed when they removed Mr. Toad, as well as 20,000 Leagues. Sure, they aren't the newest, most technologically-advanced thrill rides, but they had a certain charm that is rarely duplicated. Sure, some effects may seem humorous to relatively new WDW visitors, but for those that were there in the early days, who wouldn't love to see the tunnel and the "growing fish" from If You Had Wings, or choose your own ending in Horizons?

Even relatively "boring" pavilons as a whole, such as the often-mentioned Living Seas will soon fall victim to the trend to change attractions based on their profitability and merchantability. There is no doubt that a Finding Nemo-themed attraction will become a huge hit with both children and adults, but there was something to be said for the old Sea Cabs ride.

I will agree with this, though - the relatively recent attractions, which are added to coincide with popular actors, TV shows and movies (e.g. Sounds Dangerous, Millionaire, etc) do not fall into the same category as the original park attractions. They clearly do not have the same timeless elements that those posses (e.g. Peter Pan, Snow White, iasw, CoP). As such, I have no problem changing those out periodically.

While researching a book I was writing on WDW, I had an opportunity to go through a great deal of old reference material and attraction videos that made me remember and miss many rides that, unfortunately, so many people never had the change to experience.

Some of those Country Bears are really scary looking if you ask me, much more so than Snow White's Scary Adventures. I have never been to the Country Bears, have no desire to, haven't seen the movie, again, no desire to. Maybe if they replace the creepy bears with the more cuddly movie bears, it might work.

My worst ride at Disney World has to be the Snow White Ride, it's jerky, boring, and just made me jumpy. I didn't have a problem with anything else, every pavillion at EPCOT has my firm backing because each has a wealth of information that is sometimes difficult to find all in one place. I have my next trip coming in Feb. and I plan on hopping back to EPCOT every evening on top of having it's own day just to see everything.

I didn't think they were going to remove Catastrophe Canyon, but are they just taking out the Golden Girls house (and other houses) and continuing the Backstage Tour as is? Despite the "wow" factor of the Canyon, the Tour does need to add some improvements.

MK - that old submarine ride area needs something done with it!

AK - Tarzan Rocks was a disappointment after seeing Lion King.

MGM - That New York area seems to be a big waste of space.

Epcot - Living Seas.

1) All of Dinorama
2) Sounds Dangerous (and while you are at it, put a solid show next door as well)
3) Empty 20k Lagoon (please use this valuable space - Ariel would just love to have an attraction there)
4) Tomorrowland Indy Speedway - such vast wasted space. Someone earlier asked where a kid could drive her/his own car. The list is actually pretty long. The Busch parks, Paramount parks, many of the Six Flags, etc. have U-Drive'ems. They are loud, they smell and they take up an awful lot of space.
5) The Dying, I mean Living Seas. Find a way to recharge it, or leave the aquatic attractions to the competition up I-4.
6) Indiana Jones. It's just grown quite tiresome. Keep the name, just change the attraction (I think you have an Indy attraction in your inventory that is pretty dang good.)
7) Revitalize the Hall of Presidents. The slide show really kills the whole experience, seems cheap and is most assuredly boring. What would work well is a historical film that pauses to introduce presidents that served during that part of our country's history. It would have to not be redundant to the American Adventure, though.
8) El Rio del Tiempo. The idea is good, focus on the Mayan and Aztec history, depict the festival, and show how great a place it is to visit. The execution is just poor. The "big screen tv's" heavily detract from the experience. Perhaps the Mexican Tourist Board could cough up some bucks to make it better.

1) Swiss Family Treehouse -It just seems like pointless climbing to me. The "scenery" and props are kind of dull.

Spaceship Earth!!!
When hubby and I went 1992, the line was so huge for Spaceship Earth we never went on it. It was an 1 1/2 hour wait.

When we went back in May 2002, we finally went on.

After it stopped four times, and we finally were free, I told my hubby that I would have pounded somebody if I had waited so long for that ride just to experience that!

We also rode "The Land" when were there in 1992--so glad it's gone. It was uncomparably awful.

hee hee...I still remember my little brother peeing on that ride when we were kids! I guess with all the water (and if I remember right, it was kind of chilly in there) he just couldn't hold it! My mom was mortified...LOL

I would love to see a "finding Nemo" themed ride there!

I think Sounds Dangerous could go. It just "Sounds Stupid" though I've never seen *heard* it and won't be wasting my time this trip either.

i may be wrong but i think one of the reasons 20,000 leagues had to close was because it was not handicap accessible. if i remember correctly u had to walk down a narrow step ladder in single file to get inside.(this ride closed when i was young so my memory my fail me) it would be difficult to create something with a similar effect because this problem would probably still exist. i hope imagineers can come up with something fun as it was suggested in earlier posts.

I'll have to say Tarzan Rocks. When I was there people were leaving early and the crowd, while excited at first, grew bored and indifferent as the show went on.

They probably should have put the old Spirit of Pocahontas show that was at Backlot Theater at MGM instead of the show currently at AK.
