worst experience at disney?

We just returned on Saturday night from our first Disney vacation ever,we were so disappointed with almost every park.Animal Kingdom was the best park we visited. The employees there were very nice and we had a good time.Magic Kingdom was the worst, the people were rude and it was so crowded we couldn't even walk.We rode 2 rides and waited a long time for them. When we went to Epcot we didn't ride anything, with a fast pass the wait for soarin was 6 hours.I would not recommend the Dinosaur ride to anyone that has children that are under the age of 13,this is at Animal Kingdom,it is very scary. We couldn't believe how rude the people are in Florida. We feel like it was a huge waste of money to go to Disney. We have a son who is almost 7 and he even said he didn't ever want to go back.We did take an airboat ride while in Florida that was awesome.I would suggest it to anybody that was going.

spend time on the message boards, learn how to do disney. we have been in july and wont go back then because of the crowds, and weather... we love wdw and go as often as we can use these boards for your next trip, give it another visit before you decide on not ever going again:thumbsup2

This April's Spring break trip was our worst so far. We decided to fly in to sanford instead of orlando international. We also decided to use a Town car service. Well, our plane was delayed about an hour. When we arrived our town car service was nowhere to be found. After calling we found out the driver hadn't wanted to wait. So, they sent another car. After the wait it was nearly 11Pm before the driver arrived. No appology at all. In fact the one that arrived admitted he really didn't want to take the call but since it was his town car service he decided he would.
Then we arrived for check in at our hotel. This year we decided to try a moderate instead of Pop Century. We arrived at POFQ only to be told they had no record of a reservation in our name. Luckily we had a copy where we had paid in full already. The manager on duty then told us he was sorry and they would try to find us a room for the night but if not they may have to find us to another hotel.
He said not to worry because where we had proof of payment we were guaranteed a stay at a Disney resort hotel. We explained this was unacceptable and that we used a town car service and had no transportation elsewhere even if we hadn't already paid in full at FQ.
Well, they found us a room for the night and told us we would have to come back in the mourning because they didnt have our park hopper tickets in the system and they would have to wait until mourning to work things out. We spent over an hr the next mourning getting things taken care of and was late getting to our early mourning ADR at Ak.
Later after purchasing a photo from Dinosaur, I opted for pick up at the hotel gift shop. When we got in from the parks the message light on the phone was on and we were told that our package was availible for pick up. I went to the gift shop and the lady at the counter had no idea where our photos were(not so much as an apology, though). By pure chance while talking about how disappointing our stay at FQ had been thus far a gentleman in the store tells me they gave him my photos earlier that day and if I wouldnt mind coming to his room to pick them up I could have them. We shortly thereafter switched to PoP Century for the remainder of our vacation.
Pop Century was great as usual.
We still had a good trip but no longer have any desire to try Disney moderates.

I agree. I can see how it would sour a first timer going. It really can be hot and crowded in the summer. I think that doesn't help peoples behavior. Please give it another chance though at another time and as Acerunner said take advantage of the advice and experience of the people here on the Disboards. BTW we have been to WDW many times and would never willfully choose to go during the summer. However my dd14 had an orchestra trip earlier this month so we went. It was hard to really do everything we wanted because of the heat and crowds. When we go at other times of year things go much more smoothly.

Yikes :scared1: Some of those experiences sound AWFUL! I've had a few bad experiences, but nothing to keep me away! I still go back every year ;)

The first one I can think of is my first trip to Disney. It didn't happen to me, but when my family and I entered the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" full-size play area, my mom broke her ankle on the squishy stairs!! We brought her to the doctor where they told her she should NOT walk on it and just rest. It was our first trip there and my mom was determined not to ruin the trip (being that it was also our first day of vacation) so she grinned and beared it. She wobbled around all (3) parks at the time and dealt with the pain... ouch!!!

About three years ago, my family and I went during August. They tend to have VERY bad storms during that month! I remember we were all wearing tank tops and shorts when it began to rain unlike anything I'd ever experience before. It was actually PELTING our skin and my parents were trying to huddle over us (as we waiting for a bus, unfortunately the entire stop was full of people and we were NOT under cover.) My skin was in so much pain along with the wind, the thunder and lightning. It was SCARY!!

The last thing I can think of was last year! I was annoyed and it was because of rude people!! It seemed like no matter where we went (got a spot for a parade, found a seat at Universe of Energy..) there would always be one person that would sit next to you, pretending it was just them, then ONE BY ONE bring their WHOLE family in and completely push you out of where you were! This happened several times and I got really upset that people could be so rude. Particularly when we'd been nice to let the person sit with us after we'd claimed our spot some time before...GRRRRR

In August 2006 during my families 2nd week at WDW I got sick and was basically in our room the whole week. The frustrating part was that I would feel better during evening, however during the middle of the night I would wake up caughing very bad.

I had a truly horrible experience. I shudder at the mere thought of the ordeal I had to endure. What happened? I had to leave at the end of my vaca... :scared1: ;)

That's horrible, I agree!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

My worst experience was riding Alien Encounter during E-Nights at about 1am in the morning  I was the only one in the theater/room during this very scary attraction (just me and the alien...;) ) and had a pretty bad panic attack!

The worst experience for me was when I was 6 my parents took my 2 older brothers to WDW and left me at home with my Grandmother because they thought I was too young:scared1:

I still remind them of their oversight at least 5 times a year for the last 30 years. They do have major regrets..Too bad the Dis was not around then. ;)

I'm waiting for them to repent and take me on an all expenses paid Disney vacation :rotfl2:

I took DD for her first time at age 6. She had a blast! It was the perfect age!

My worst experience was in August 2000.
The first day we went on Space Mountain, my contact popped out. Not to big of a deal since i had 2 extra contacts( but no glasses). Next day went on Rockin' Roller coaster and both of my contacts pop out.
So now I have one contact for the remaining 6 days of our vacation. We wound up in costco buying new contacts at the suggestion of the cast member at MGM studios.

May 17th of this year. DD & I went up for a weekend trip with friends. That night she lost her footing getting out of the car at Test Track. She walked to the picutre station before it started bleeding. I asked to a band-aid. That turned into paramedics who said she needed stitches. The rest of the evening was spent in the pediatric urgent care clinic.

And due to the depth of the wound, it is still healing. The stitches had to come out after 10 days, it was getting infected.

I figure it should be healed by the time we go back on July 3rd! lol

Feb 2007 we went for a long weekend for my birthday. Everything was going good, we met one of my internet friends there and planned to meet up again the next day (my birthday) and I was having dinner with the princesses at GF that night too. We woke up that morning to my nearly 2yr old puking every few minutes. Poor baby. So we had to cancel my friend, cancel dinner and head for home (hour drive). He didn't throw up anymore that day either!

Side note: my friend's son got sick that week too- same thing!

My worst experience pales in comparison to the rest, but I've only been there once so far, so I don't have many experiences to choose from.

Our first night of our first trip, we didn't go to the parks because we had less than 1/2 a day. We had dinner at ESPN, walked the boardwalk and rode the monorail. We stopped for icecream on the boardwalk and it was a very long line. After waiting our turns, DH and DD ordered and I was going to go last (because I had the money, LOL). When the clerk asked "who's next?", an older woman stepped in front of me and said "I think I was". I (politely) said "excuse me, but I was here before you and I'm with them" (pointing to my dh and dd who already had their ice cream. The woman's dh started screaming at me about how I shouldn't get my panties in a bunch over being next in line and to just chill out. He must've let me have it for 2 solid minutes of yelling at me, just because I spoke up about being next in line. :confused3

Like I said, not a huge deal, but it kind of put a bad taste in my mouth on my very first night ever at WDW.

our first day in Disney, my daughter (3 at the time)had an allergic reaction to food. I never felt so helpless in my life. I couldnt find anyone to help me, I guess I just panicked. We had to call 911 while we were taking the ferry back to Wilderness lodge. As soon as we got there, the ambulance was waiting. They were great. They had to keep her in the hospital for a couple of hours, but then we got to take her back. The rest of the trip was great.

:offtopic: Y'all are all so nice. I would probably have to be pulled off of the ice cream cutter lady and maybe her husband too. And for the kids cutting infront of me at DHS, I stand firm and if they do bump me or get infront of me, I loudly say "Excuse You". I am a teacher so I feel that gives me liberty to tell any children what to do no matter where they are or who they belong to!::yes:: I also speak spanish so last summer when some tourists from Mexico got in front of me at a parade, I said some not so nice things about them to my mother! I may be small but I'm not that nice and nobody is gonna mess with me!

Sorry for the hijack!

Worst Vacation? The one I just got home from yesterday. I broke my leg in EPCOT last Monday, had surgery Wednesday, released from the hospital Thursday, drove home Saturday and Sunday.

So sorry to hear about your leg! I hope it heals well and that your kids pamper you!

I have 4 boys... I see your 5th was a girl. Hmmmm... maybe I can talk hubby into just 1 more. :goodvibes

6 too little? Nah!!! I was 6 the first time my folks took me to WDW and I had a freakishly fun time! Granted, 26 years later I don't exactly remember a whole lot from that trip other than the fact that:

(1) There was no Epcot, no Hollywood Studios and no Animal Kingdom
(2) Staying off property isn't the most fun (waiting for long shuttle buses, etc.)
(3) I had a crazy fun time!

I will probably take my child (that bun is still in the oven) to WDW when he/she is about 5 or 6 as well.

You know I had the same terrible experience too. I was younger than you, about 4. I did not remember much, but I have the pictures of when they went. I also remind my mom to this day. I tell her that I probably would not have been a Disney Fan had she brought me too. Now, we go at least one a year and my oldest if 6 and youngest 3.

I was 11 and my dad took me on a father/daughter trip, staying at the GF.

We woke up the morning after our travels there and I had the flu!

We spent the entire week in the room, watching movies and ordering room service. At my request, he went all the way to MK and got me a pink princess hat and brought it back. It was one of the most special times for my dad and I and I won't ever forget it.
