Worst change in the last 10 years...What do you miss most

I miss all the benches that have been removed from around the World Showcase. Hardly anyplace to sit anymore. Why??

I liked when the Penny Arcade was, well, and arcade, with those video machines and strength testers and the like from years ago. No it's just another store with one or two machines stuck in corners.

Speaking of old merch... little porcelain figures used to be really popular. I know they still have them from time to time but I remember WALLS of these things... I have so many from before but the ones now are much cheaper in quality, it just isn't the same.

Now I just found something else out- the Guitar Gallery at Downtown Disney is no longer there. I actually have a couple of guitar picks in my case right now from there; brought back memories.

For me it is a tie between the Hunchback show and Pleasure Island (well- really only Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse). I miss them both.

I read through the whole thread and many people commented on the things I also miss dearly:

Adventures Club
Horizons
Word of Motion (I actually liked this better then Test Track)
River Country

Those are my big ones, what annoys me is that many of these things are left behind. I can understand replacing with something new / improving but to just up and close them when many are still enjoyed is questionable. WDW is a huge place, it's not like there is a shortage of space to expand the parks.

Why did River Country have to close, though it would have some expense counldn't they refit the park to use recycled pool water? It had a nice "Ole watering hole" feel to it. I love the new water parks but it doesn't have the same feeling to it.

Why not keep Adventures Club and move it to Animal Kingdom? It fits in perfectly and could be a reason to draw crowds there later in the evening for lite appitizers / drinks.

I also didn't like the name change from Dixie Landings to one big Port Orleans complex.

I also miss the real wood guns (I had a pistol) from the PoC ride, I got one as a child and it was one of the favorite toys for years.

I guess what most of us remember is not so much WDW of the past but simpler times. There wasn't daily non stop flights to WDW, airfare wasn't as affordable, most family vacations were done via driving so going to WDW was a major trip. You certainly didn't have the international business they do now. Tastes change, the demographics visiting change etc. At the end of the day WDW is a business (sadly).

I also miss the real wood guns (I had a pistol) from the PoC ride, I got one as a child and it was one of the favorite toys for years.

We got a real wood pistol last year at HS outside the Indiana Jones show. Idk if that's exactly what your talking about, but maybe?

One of the small things I haven't seen mentioned in this thread was the batting cage right outside the entrance to Cranium Command. You could take some pretend swings with a baseball bat, a golf club and I think a tennis racket. They analyzed your swing using cameras and then a pro would show up on a video screen and tell you what you were doing wrong. I think Gary Carter did it for baseball.

But only AFTER you put your bat or club away. The CM never let you stand there holding it, I guess in case you didn't take criticism well and went nuts on the CM, they didn't want you armed!

I'd say the worst change in the last 10 years at WDW would be the Finding Nemo themed ride at Epcot's Seas pavilion. While I don't mind Nemo being there, I miss the hydrolators and the seacabs that I loved when I was a kid. I think that the Clamobiles need to be taken somewhere else because they just don't truly represent the futuristic and scientific concept that Epcot is known for and I found them embarrising to ride on.

We've been going ever since 1995 as a family. My husband and I went for our honeymoon nearly 30 years ago! Here are some of our thoughts...

ME:
-Chef Mickey's at DTD
-Random/rare characters....like the 3 little pigs! We saw them on our honeymoon
-Beaver tails at Canada

DH:
-Superstar Television at MGM
-The original Osbourne Lights where you could walk through and see the houses decorated. You could also see some characters.
-Art the Greater at BC

DD:
-Swimming in the lagoon/water at Wilderness Lodge!
-Hunchback show at MGM
-Old Pocahontas yellow ponchos
-Who Wants to be a Millionaire...my sister made it to the hot seat and walked away with 64,000 points!

Having to make advanced dining reservations half a year in advance for a table service meal. I do not like being on a schedule when I'm on vacation and this has pretty much kicked that out the window.

Yes, Yes, and YES! Some of our favorites!!! We were only there once when WWTBAM was there and we went in the attraction like 8 times during our trip. It was SO FUN!!!
